I was reading the Black Crusade book at my gm's place and I noticed a few interesting things.
First of all, the skill section for parrying mentions doing so with your bare hands, and a perusal of the rule section for combat didn't turn up any specific section specifying you must have a weapon to parry attacks. Now I know you can't do it with natural weapons, but can you still do it with your hands? If yes or no, page numbers for such?
Secondly, I noticed that any weapon with the primitive quality can be a force weapon, and sorcerers start with one of their choice, implying they can have ones not already listed, since it's "force weapon" rather than a list of choices. Sorcerers also start with the Unarmed Warrior Talent, which gives them a natural weapon with the primitive quality. Ergo, a starting sorcerer could, say, be covered in crystal tattoos and thus go around having force weapon kicks and punches. Not exactly overpowering compared to the superior damage of a force sword or the warp weapon ouch of the Staff of Tzeentch, but really fun in terms of flavor. Is there any way, apart from "applying force to natural weapon seems dubious", that you can actually point to this being illegal in terms of RAW?
Parrying Unarmed and Natural Force Weapons!?
seems perfectly legal. You lose out on the +10 to force checks from having a staff though. And as for parrying with natural weapons they are still weapons, meaning that they are hard enough to damage things therefor hard enough to deflect things. dont think of it as grabbing a sword but swatting it away.
Yeah, tbh I don't see a balance issue, and I could definitely make a fun character out of it. Merely curious to see if there was, indeed, a rule to prevent me from doing it.
However, you can not parry with natural weapons. The trait description for them explicitly say so. However, the skill entry for parry mentions doing so by hand, and as far as I can see, no section talking about parrying says it requires a melee weapon capable of doing it. Hence the question becomes:
Can a character, force weapon tattoos or not, parry a melee attacks while unarmed?
I allow unarmed to parry other unarmed, but not usually weapons without a penalty. Parrying power weapons unarmed is not possible.

It's possible if you didn't want that hand anyway!

That's not really a parry, it's a sacrifice. You'd do much better to just attempt a dodge.
Hmmm, in another RPG I know it is possible to parry weapons with your bare hands if you are close enough to the enemy. It means that you are not actually blocking the damaging parts of their weapons but instead catch the shaft or stop the hand that wields it.
all i have to say this is chaos anything is possible
