Domain Drain Episode 2- Plowing Old Ones
Thanks for the new episode, I listened to it this morning. Let me say that I usually have a hard time listening to gaming podcasts (even though I want to) because in most of them there is so little actual gaming discussion mixed in with far too much empty banter. You end up burning through an hour and barely learned anything of interest. Yours is one of the only podcasts I will actually listen to - there's a lot of actual game discussion in it and I really like that.
If I had one criticism, it would be that in each episode a couple of odd rules questions or misunderstandings seem to come up and these end up being loose ends that I'd like to see tied up better. If the answer isn't known at the time of recording, that's fine, but maybe jot the question down, check up on it later, and insert the correct answer later during the editing phase?
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate the podcast and I'll be looking forward to more in the future as well as your speculations on the mysterious origins of Mr. David Pan. I figure this card actually backs up your Sam Campbell conjectures by forming a second example of a similar homage/in-joke being slipped into a card.
Very cool, will grab this later to check out.
The rules misunderstandings are usually because, I am still relatively new and inexperienced with Cthulhu, so I'm still learning the rules and misunderstanding the cards. And some of em we kinda hope the listeners have some clarifications to help us out. Community involvement is a big deal for both of us, so feel free to send stuff our way. If you have questions you think we should discuss, rulings, combos you love, interesting tournament results, anything related at all send it to us. I'm glad you're still enjoying it. Just hope some of our banter isn't a little /too/ inappropriate. ;D
Good job, i really enjoyed listening to Domain Drain, even though i had a bit hard time following at times as English isn't my first language. Keep up the good work!
Just downloaded, will give it a listen.
Thanks for a great podcast! I love to listen to your thoughts about the new cards (and since I live in Sweden the podcast was actually released along the same time as the pack was available here). I would love to see some more discussion about actual play, interviews with people like Tom and not just theoretic discussions, but I digress, just the fact that you are doing this podcast makes you the most awesome CoC LCG fans out there right now!
Now it might seem a bit anal of me to point this out, but a blatant misreading of the rules grated me in your analysis of the cards and their gameplay effects:
Destroy and sacrifice are not interchangable terms. The faq clearly states this, and while a destroyed result is the most common instance of removal (either through cards stating that they destroy other cards or through wounding, which results in a destroyed result), sacrifice is also removal, but not an interchangable term. This means you cannot sacrifice a character to then use cthonian stone or canopic jar, since both cards clearly state that they only work on destroyed results.
Happy hunting with the Kopesh on invulnerable characters, I would guess that just like using Twilight Gate on ancient ones was legal before it was faq'ed it will be completely by the book and very popular with your gaming buddies...
Thanks for the feed back. That makes me insanely happy with Kopesh. We're actually talking about a special Halloween episode. And it's good to know what you wanna hear. It gives us more ideas for content to make the show better for the community. Keep it comin!
Khopesh + Invulnerable has been discussed on the rules forum before and determined not to work:
Great, job. I really enjoyed it!
More please!
Great podcast! As a new player, it's good to hear your thoughts and opinions about the game. Keep up the good work.
Was there a resolution to the story card "A New Challenge"? Can success tokens be distributed to any player? I did a search through the forum but couldn't find anything.
Nope. The FAQ 2.0 syas success tokens cannot be switched between sides of a story by a redistribution effect, nor between story cards and non-story cards.
We got an email from Damon, clarifying a bunch of stuff, hopefully we record it before the next FAQ, though I doubt we'll be able to.
FAQ's seem to come out quarterly, If you guys can't do one before the next FAQ... I'm summoning a GOO and sending it your house.
