Daemon Weapon Help

By Cybric, in Black Crusade

Hi everyone,

This is my first time posting and I was hoping to get some advice on whether this daemon weapon that I'm considering making is legal or unreasonable. The concept is to bind a Juggernaut of Khorne to a axe. I was thinking that since the Juggernaut is a charging type daemon that one of the demonic traits the weapon would gain would be the concussive (x) trait tied to WP characteristic as well as the devastating (x) trait. i was thinking of going to my GM to see if this concept can be bundled together into a "juggernaut" trait so I don't take up too many rolls.

I know that its not a "listed" trait but I think that it makes sense for the type of daemon that is being bound. The other traits would possibly be..

1) Warp Weapon trait: I envision the axe being scolding hot and like magma or fire is trying to escape the weapon.

2) Crippling: The axe would have organic spikes wreathing the blade edge that will skewer the enemy.

#1 could easily be replaced with the Flame quality if its more appropriate for the heat theme.

I was wondering what you guys thought of the concept and if its unreasonable to bring it forward to my GM.

How many traits you can get obviously depends on the Willpower of the Daemon, and how many DoS you get on the binding roll.

Also, is this for an established character, or are you just going to ask for a daemon weapon when your character either hasn't spent the months/years making/finding one, or got in good with his god enough to be gifted one?

To be honest, it kinda seems unreasonably powerful, though I guess it demands on whether you're actually going to go through the process of binding a juggernaught yourself.

I'll try to summarize why I think it's overpowered:

1. Normally, a player has zero control over what traits a daemon weapon they create gets, beyond picking the daemon and deciding whether to roll on the god-specific table or the general

2. I'm not sure how you plan to tie the Concussive and Devastating to WP, but if you're going to make the x in Concussive (x) equal to the WP of the daemon you get Concussive (4), which means a -40 modifier to the test to resist Concussive, that means that nothing is going to have more than 20% chance to resist the stun, and in most cases they're going to fail so hard that you can tear them apart at your leisure (not very Khorny, imho, shredding an immobilized foe).

3. Bundling up both Concussive and Devastating into a single trait so you get can even MOAR TRAITS is just nuts, honestly, the only way I can see Concussive (4) and Devastating (4) working is by doing it to the exclusion of all other traits.

On top of all this, there's plenty of Khorne/Juggernaught specific traits available from the appropriate table, I really don't see a good reason to make up more of these.

Concussive is really, really powerful. Its worth it to make a daemon weapon out of a concussive weapon, for the concussive alone. Or Shocking.
