On the one damn mechadendrite they didn't put in

By Sigismund, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

Can I just get an extra **** hand? A claw? What about a set of pincers? Clamps? Something?

Seriously, they're all over the tech-priest artwork and lore but there doesn't seem to be much in the way of published rules found for the non-I-crush-your-hand-shaking-it-with-my-manipulator/servo arm-mechadendrite. Did I miss something? Anyone have any ideas on that or would it just need to be house-ruled as another form of manipulator mechadendrite without the STR bonus but can approximate standard arm/grip strength and manual dexterity (but not enough to step on the other mechadndrite's area of optimization)?

Otherwise....

I don't quite understand what you want. Are you talking about bionic hands or mechadendrites with different forms of manipulators?

Pretty sure he means a mechandrite that IS basically an extra hand on a special limb. As the manipulator CANT be used for fine manipulation. One GM I had let an Ascended PC get a basically a slightly stronger than normal hand as a manipulator, as they already had a servo-arm

Example: Cyrrik Scayl

I refer to the bottom two of the 4 mechadendrites that are shown. They're too small for a standard manipulator mechadendrite but there's no rules framework for where they would fit in as those style of mechadendrites show up quite a bit in artwork and lore.

I mean, if I wanted to suggest a rule I pulled out of my ass it would just use the standard Mechadendrite Use (Manipulator) talent and the alternative in-the-flesh implant to the classic manipulator (as the hypnomat training for the standard manipulator would have 100% overlap with this one). Would be lacking the improvised weapon use, Strength bonus, the tethering option, and the shoulder-mount requirement in exchange for no-penalties fine manipulation.

That would sound fine to me if I were a GM. I would probably make it cheaper and easier to find than a standard manipulator as well, since it has none of the bonuses.

I would keep it the same, while it doesnt have the raw power, it also has the same dexterity as a human hand, which is also hard.

why not ask your gm if you can buy a bionic arm, and not anchor it to your shoulder as normall but instead use a spinal nerve plug to attach the arm just below yourself, the Gm would have to deal with the specifics of what it is capable of doing but i can't see to much of an issue with it arising...hope this helps

I would do a extra hand mechadendrite, but it shouldnt cant take a pistol and shoot it...because if you can buy a mechadendrite hand that can take a pistol like your hand, why do you want a ballistic mechandrite?

Well ... one reason you would want ballistic over a hand that can hold a pistol is that you could allow the hand to hold a pistol as normal -- not necessarily as a reaction attack ... a huge benefit of the ballistic is to make an extra attack outside of your normal phase ... the extra hand could just be a third hand - but you would still get only 1 attack per turn (2 w/ two weapon wielding) ---
