Creature Guide PDF

By klempad, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

I have just discovered something disturbing regarding the Creature Guide PDF I recently purchased from Drivethru.

Unlike the Player's Guide and the GM Guide (and I assume all the other published PDFs), almost all the security settings are set to "Not Allowed"; including the two I find most useful: COPY CONTENT and PRINTING. sad.gif

Has anyone else noticed this? Does anyone know of a reason why this is so?

I just thought not being able to print the creature guide was a mistake along with the poorly completed bookmarks in all the guides. I periodically download them from RpgDriveThru in the vague hope that they will be updated to work as expected.

I stopped buying pdf's of this product line after Edge of Night.

Before that the pdfs were searchable, copyable etc. making them good and useful resources.

Then I noticed that the pdf for EoN wouldn't copy and would recognize terms in searches (making one of the key reasons for having an electronic file gone - you could search for "where did it say skaven or something").

I brought this to rpgnow's attention and they said they were aware of issue and raised it with FFG. Nothing more came of it.

I noted this problem in my review of on rpgnow (robert harper, you can see the review still).

I urge anyone with these issues to continue to:

- note them in reviews on rpgnow; and

- let rpgnow and ffg both know.

Companies do react eventually if consumers push enough. Within 24 hours of my review of Gathering Storm pdf noting it was useful but missing some components etc. being posted the price was cut in half and the description of the pdf was updated (I correspondingly updated my review, you can still see it on rpgnow as well).

does anyone know if the pdfs for black fire pass, book of grudges and witch's song can be searched and text copied? the sole reason i buy the pdfs is so i can make my own notes and game aids from them for running the game.

pretty gutted that edge of night doesn't allow this (bought it before the reviews were up)

i know that when i purchased omens of war and liber carnagia pdfs that they do allow copying of text and they came out after EoN

I have Witch's Song and it works fine

The search function has helped a ton with Witch's Song.

Anyone else get an email from DriveThru RPG saying their PDFs were updated? I just got one for Witch's Song.

Not sure what the update was exactly.

thanks romus.

i've just realised that my gathering storm pdf cannot have the text copied either!

So a little off topic but are there online versions of the cards that are supposed to come with the products? I don't want to spend any more money on online products if I can't actually use all the product because some of it is "missing."

Um, no. If you want cards, then you buy the analog products. If you want to play the version without cards, then you buy the digital books and/or the guides and use the card references there and write them down on character sheets. Or use StrangeEons to work up your own cards.

That is disappointing. I have the players/GMs/Creature guides because while I like the system, my group just doesn't have the room for all the accessories that come with the standard version of the game. I was hoping I could buy PDFs of the cards to go with the PDFs of the books to avoid any more table clutter.

but if you have the pdf of the guides then you have copies of the cards of the early products in there don't you?

Early Products yes. That doesn't help me with Omens of War, Lure of Power or the Modules... I would gladly pay for electronic copies of the cards for these products.
