Recently bought AGoT card game core set - need sugestions for future gameplay

By Karalinda, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Hi folks,

as a song of ice and fire saga fan, i recently bought the core set of AGoT card game and i really enjoyed the game, despite only played the 2 player version with my girlfriend. so i really like to take a deep through with expansions...

After an internet investigation, i saw that its recommended to get another core set for better build up the decks for the 4 houses that came with the core set and get the Greyjoys and Martells deluxe expansions for build up their decks. But i am getting some problems to get these expansions... On amazon, FFG eStore, local boardgame shops here in Portugal, there are complete Out of Stock... These will be REPRINTED?!!

To invest on the chapters packs which of them should i start... for yet a newbie rank and mainly 2 player game?!

Greetings from Portugal

FFG seems to have failed to anticipate the surge in demand from the TV shows - there's a lot of the game supplies out of print. I recommend this thread in "General" (http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_foros_discusion.asp?efid=16&efcid=4&efidt=552157) which discusses a few international options for finding what you need.

As you mentioned, one of the best options is to buy a second core set, and then, once you've settled on a house you'd like to play, buy the corresponding "Deluxe" expansion for your house. The Lords of Winter expansion is due to be reprinted this month, and should start to be a little more available! The "Lions of the Rock" set is due out before the end of the year. In my experience "Princes of the Sun" and "Queen of Dragons" are still fairly easy to come by.

As for chapter packs, currently only the "Maesters" and "Brotherhood" sets are printed in the three-copies-of-20-cards format (rather than the old 40 cards, 10 triplicates, 10 singles). The old chapter packs are being reprinted to the new format (thank god), and the first of these (Defenders of the North) is also due to be reprinted this month. I would avoid buying any of the old 40-card format packs, and just wait for the reprint.

Yeah, you're right. I was mis-remembering that same link. King's Landing it was.

Your first chapter pack should be refugees of war. It comes with 3x of refugees for all 6 houses. They're 0 cost 2 str characters. They're the best weenies to use in whichever house you're playing because of the 0 cost.

Gonna reconfirm what Hoya said. Grab one of those refugee packs if you can find them by you. Best cross house pack ever.

This thread was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks guys! Refugees of War it is! *click: add to shopping cart*
Any other chapter packs that fill out all the houses nicely?

Ancient Enemies used to be another one but now with the Fury plots being restricted its Meh, but if your playing with friends who aren't going to be running cards from the restricted list The Fury plots are a great gold, initiative and effect plot for each house.

Agree that you can't go wrong with a copy of Refugees of War.

Depending on the decks you want to build, these might also be helpful. Even if you're not running a season deck, it's not a bad thing to include some Carrion Birds to get rid of the other players Summer (Black) Ravens or Winter (White) Ravens, plus the Carrion Birds are cheap soak for Military claim.

A Song of Summer (3x Black (Summer) Ravens and 3x Carrion Birds)
The Winds of Winter (3x White (Winter) Ravens and 3x Carrion Birds)

Beyond that, I'd browse one of the online sites that show the cards to see what might appeal to you. You'll find that many of the packs are better for certain types of decks.

With the exceptions already noted, I might try to stick to mostly the new format packs (3x of each card) while you're getting your bearings on what types of decks you want to build.
