Did anyone else only receive 7 vipers with their game? Or did I just lose one already?

Yep... the assault crisis cards depict the ship(s) that you add to the existing board. So if it shows 2 basestars, you place the second. If you have two out already, no additional basestar is placed.

And, this came up earlier, if a basestar is damaged and the next turn is an assault crisis card, you do not repair the basestar with one of the new ones-- it stays in place, damaged.

Well, to actually answer your question, you got hosed, and your humans are going into the fight shorthanded. Just drop FFG an email and they will ship out a new Viper for you.
