Reading up on creating Endeavors for the PCs and one of the steps is to come up with a list or requirements that when completed will allow the PCs to complete the Endeavor (or get an amount of Achievement Points toward the Endeavor). Some of these they have already, others they'll need to get.
My question is how do the players know what's on the list? I figure, first I'd make the list (or get it from a pre-made adventure, assuming that it has the list already). The players will need to figure out what's on that list in order to succeed on their Endeavor.
Some ideas on how they get the list.
1. The GM just hands it over
2. The PCs make skill rolls (Commerce, Command, Lore etc) and based on extended rolls get the list, or parts of it
3. The Players discuss it in and out of character and present the List, the GM then matches it up
There's likely plenty of other good ones. Of these, the one I like least is option 1, but it is fastest. I'd like a mix of 2 and 3 I think. I have the list, the PCs talk about it, trying to come up with their own list/itinerary and then their characters can make rolls which can improve the accuracy of the list they generate when compared to my own. I could then ammend my list if it looks like they came up with something I hadn't thought of, or a novel way of approaching the Endeavor (and even reward this as well).
What are some methods people have used though? Or is this more something that the GM holds onto and presents the goals and such?
