List of your favorite battlepacks

By Fezvez, in Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game

Hello there!

I've lurked a little bit around here, read a few things about the dark future that W:I might be facing, but well, I'm not discouraged to start it.

I've read quite a lot of (overwhelmingly positive) reviews, and I'd like to start playing the game. I know that most of you think that the core set + assault on ulthuan is a pretty good start, but I'd like to really do a bit of deckbuilding.

So, from what I've read, the core set + assault doesnt really provide you ways to do mono-race armies. So I'd like to know your opinions on the various battlepacks. Basically, if you could give me the list of your three most interesting battlepacks for casual play, it'll be great! So you may have noticed how I put the emphasis on "casual". I don't really care about the battlepacks that contain the overpowered card that is currently in every single competitive list. No, in fact, I'd like to know which battle packs offer the most array of possibilities.

It's funny, because a "strong" battlepack (full of very good cards) often lead to fewer number of strategies, as some are too weak to stand up anymore . So, well, I don't want to have a list of the weakest battlepacks, just the most interesting ones!

(By the way, I read that the dark elf were pretty underwhelming with just core set + assault, and that FFG corrected it by giving them better cards in the battlepacks. Could you confirm?)

So if you could remember the good ol' times, when you opened your monthly packs and thought "hell yeah, there's a combo to do here!" (as opposed to "hell yeah, auto include 3x in all my destruction decks, and not only is it excellent it also crushes strategy XXX and YYY!")

Thanks!

Edit : I know I'm not the first to ask these kind of questions (and thanks for www.cardboardgamers.com/messages/boards/thread/12860921 ) But well, it seems on the forum, no one really dares to tel which battle packs are good and which are bad (except the first cycle which is bad for casual)

Go Core and Ulthuan for sure, maybe avoid March of the Damned because there's alot of neutrals that won't add to the depth of the main races. After that I'd say the best cycle was Morrslieb, the one that just finnished, but thats just me. Finally snap up Legends, it's a really fun mechanic, especially if it's a variety of mechanics you seek.

Cheers! Have fun with the game you've made a good choice! ...and don't worry the game is not dying.

Core, deluxe pack and enemy cicle.
