Help needed on making characters...

By Xamusel, in Anima: Beyond Fantasy RPG

You see, I'll be playing a game in town on Fridays, but I'm actually the only one in town with the books, to my knowledge. Therefore, I'm supposed to help the other players get their characters done tomorrow, after getting my own character done at home. There's actually one major problem: I'm nowhere near as good as I should be for character creation if I'm supposed to help the other players out!

For my own character, I'm going to be a Sylvain Nephilim Shadow with access to the Dominus and The Gift, but I'm not going to overdo it. I don't really know much on how to balance him, though, due to not knowing well enough how to do this yet. Therefore, if anyone could assist me, I'd be willing to repay you guys at some point.

Thank you guys for the assistance, if it comes or not, so...

PS: I'm using Hellgeist's guide for character creation, and it's still not easy to understand, so...

FWIW making a PC that is a Nephilim and uses Ki and Gift is choosing to leap into the deep end. Try focussing on one thing rather than doing everything at once. You will also find your PC is probably much more capable as a result. Anima is flexible but it punishes all rounders pretty hard.

My advise is that at level 1, avoid worrying about Ki unless you take a Technician or Tao, Magic unless you take Wizard, Warlock, Summoner, Mentalist Wizard, Illusionist or Warrior Summoner, and Psychic unless you have taken Mentalist, Mentalist Warrior or Mentalist Wizard. They can be done but you need good system knowledge.

Have you considered using the GM's Kit pregens until you get more familiar with the system? May be really helpful, even if you use them as a base and just modify from there.

Add Sylvain Nephilim abilities.

Huh... why didn't I think of that sooner?

Honestly would've saved me the headache I got if I did.

You can get fancier too. Swap around DPs using the costs as written and being aware of limits for DP expenditure.

Honestly though, leave the awesome multiple power PCs until after you get more comfortable.

I get the idea... thanks.

I'll keep that in mind, really, Skywalker.

just to pitch in my two cents; i made a very similar move when making my first 'for real' character. a paladin with light and essence magic and several ki abilities. i'm level seven and i'm still patching him up, it was a big mistake and a headache.

i love this paladin more than anything (no homo) but i really should ave done something simpler for a first character.

This is something I have made for my group, it uses the core exxet creation rules (as I understand them) and the extra ability bumps make a huge difference.

you may find it handy, I know as a table reference my players use it.

@Brewmaster: I see what you mean. I wasn't trying to make my character that complex, but at least it's important not to make that mess, anyway.

@Jtest: I'll have to take a look at it some time. Thanks for the link.

Hellion, that PDF was a collaboration work of members from the Cipher-Studios official forums. i should know, i helped out with some characters =D
