Flip when timing order

Hi, I have played my first game of GoW and I had one major timing problem. At the 1 stage of Emergence I had 3 Wretches in the same spot as the Emergence hole that I was supposed to close in order to met "Flip when" condition on scenario card. I rolled 3 damage plus omen and here is the question: shall I immediately fire up Bolo Grenade special ability and close the hole and then flip scenario card and proceed with instructions on the other side (spawning new enemies etc.) AND THEN for each enemy (theoretically there can be new enemies in target area) in target area roll defence dice and continue resolving damage? OR Shall I finish resolving my action (attack) and then flip scenario card and proceed? Or maybe You have another suggestions?

I think you count it all a single event: wretches are killed off and emergence hole is sealed, and then you flip the mission stage card. It makes sense to do it like this because otherwise you are leaving a part of your attack unresolved.
