Ascension Confusion

By homunculus2, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

Hi All. Sorry if this has been asked before, but the Peer system in Ascension is not clear in anyway.

Can anyone clarify if the "Peer" influence talent that Ascended characters have access to is the same as the lower-rank Peer talents; and if so, why would do they now cost 500 XP for a new Peer talent when the same Peer talent was 100 XP at lower rank? Example, a Cleric can pay 100 XP for Peer (Workers) at Rank 3, or 500 XP for the same Peer (Workers) talent at Rank 9. Plus, you have to pay for Rivals in some advancements?

They are both talents, listed as Peer (X), and have the same descriptor, but now the advancement is five times greater for influence in a group then the same effect was available to a character in lower levels? I'm not following why or how...

Also, how are group calculating the Influence score? Is it used as an individual or as a group, like Profit Factor?

Third, does force fields like the Rosarius and Refractor Field prevent close combat damage? What are the 'correct' rules for them: from the Inquisitor's Handbook it states they reduce range damage damage by 2d10 and in Ascension it states they stop all damage if you roll under their rating. FFG just changed the rules in mid-system? (...two different supplements contradicting...)

Thanks, and hopefully someday their will be Errata for this supplement... <COUGH - COUGH FFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!>

1. They are the same talent. remember that the Ascended Careers can be reached from different DH-Careers. Also in Ascension everything is more expensive. You also earn more Xp per session.

2. Influence is nominally that of the Inquisitor, fluffwise. But it works for the whole group, ruleswise. 1 Cadre has 1 Influence score.

3. These Forcefields dont help against melee. Force Fields have been changed to have a flat absorbtion-rate, just like in Tabletop, on which this RPG is based. Ignore the outdated Inquisitors-Handbook´s rules to forcefields. Their fluff was unfitting, and their crunch was worse that the new mechaniscs, too.
