Quick question involving the special ability that a few heroes have along the lines of:

"Before Combat: Take X number of hearts/exhaustion tokens to make a free Ranged/Melee/Magic attack."

If you fail, do you take damage if the creature you are fighting deals damage with that type of combat?

For example: your hero makes a free magic attack before combat . You fail at beating the monster's magic number. It just so happens that this monster's stat is 10/1. Do you take 1 heart?

In short, no. You do not take any damage from failed before combat attacks.
