Ser Eldon Estermont Rule Clarificaiton

Hello,

Had a quick question regarding Ser Eldon Estermont his text reads " Characters with less power then him can not be declared as defenders while attacking".

So If I initiate a power challenge with 3 of my characters, and my opponent has no characters with power on them, can he declare no defenders? Or does this only work when he is attacking alone ? People were complaining that If I attack with multiple characters in one challenge with him that they could declare defenders even without having any characters with power.

When a character has to attack alone to make his ability working, it is written on the card. Like Pyat Pree (QoD) p.e.

sure thing, this guy has a powerful ability...

They can complain all they like.

Ser Eldon Estermond is attacking, so characters with fewer power than him cannot defend. If he has 1 power, then characters with no power cannot defend. It doesn't matter who else is attacking with Eldon.

Some cards do only have their ability while attacking alone, but those are specifically stated in the card text eg. http://www.agotcards.org/card/v/4277

If he has no characters with power on them, and Ser Eldon has 1 power on him, then no, they cannot declare defenders. 0 is less than 1.

If he has no characters with power on them, and Ser Eldon has 0 power on him, then yes, they can declare defenders. 0 is not less than 0.

What is their basis for this - other than that they did not like the outcome? Particularly given that there are plenty of cards that specifically SAY "while this card is attacking alone...".
