I want to play a tech priest ,but...

By Brother Nicodemus, in Dark Heresy

My GM is going to be running harlocks legacy, and I want to know without spoiling it for me if it is an engaging scenario for a mechanicus character, or am I just better off playing a Black priest.

I have played a Tech priest before but I find that alot of GM's don't take into account the difference in thinking between a tech priest and everyone else.

I wouldn't limit your character based on pre knowledge of the adventure. And besides, at the end of Tattered Fates (the first Harrlock adventure) our Tech Priest saved the day by having the best idea, not because he was in any way particularly well suited to the campaign arc.

All the character classes are there for a reason, and you fill out the team as best you can. Having a tech priest is always handy, they have a way with machinery and flesh, a whole bunch of tricks up their sleeve, solid research, and after a couple of levels can soak a fair bit of damage, and provide the party with an outlet for banter and making fun of (and the best thing is the tech priest doesn't even get it).

With all the tools at their disposal a tech priest would be very handy indeed. These are investigatey adventures though, you might want to consider your Tech Priest with that in mind if you want to maximise utility.

Of course you seem to know enough to know that a black priest may come in rather handy too. happy.gif

We've done Tattered Fates and Damned /Cites and I think they are good adventures. House of Dust and Ash next. Whatever character you choose, I hope you have as much fun with these adventures as I did.

p.s.

..hang on, I just noticed you've already played a tech priest. Heck, go for the Black Priest in that case, because change is as good as a holiday and tech priests are a bit gross after all.

Tech Priest Walks into a Bar...

Barkeep. "We don't allow your kind in here."

Not quite sure what you mean by this? It is a player's job to keep in mind and play up the fact that his character views the world differently from others and - if he needs clarification about something because he is a techpriest - to ask the GM about it. Now, if the GM is running a game where he allows everyone to run roughshod over tech, commit tech heresies left and right without a thought and expects you to have a low respect for technology, then - yeah - he needs his techpriest player to take him aside and remind him just what he is.
