Obviously widows watch is a good card to play when you play with dupes and you are running out of stark.

My question is more on the basis of when to play it out of house. Would you play it in a lannister deck that has lots of dupes? lannister should have the gold to afford the out of house penalty on WW.

I feel like running multiple dupes of characters is scary, because if the character dies, you can't play the other 2 cards, which are essentially dead.

Is widows watch better in melee, since you don't have to worry as much about being a super fast deck? Is it also better in melee because you face more resets?

I'd like to know your thoughts on when to play and when not to play this card.

Love it out of Lannister BwoB. Dupes on all those fancies like the Mad Huntsman and guys like Jaime. then you can do a one sided valar or just wait for your opponent to force into it on turn 7 and your still have a board.

of course thats core jaime and using infamy.

It does say unique card... you could use it for locations without the fear of a dead card. I'm sure your opponent would appreciate something like Lannisport Brothel or Rhaenys' Hill hanging around for the entire game.

Well, yeah, you can't dupe a non unique.

My deck has Jaime, Littlefinger, Beric, Mad Huntsmen, Tom, Anguy, Thoros etc. I don't run the agenda. What do you think about WW in that one?

I've built a pretty solid Stark deck with Widow's Watch as the Cornerstone. Considering I do play melee more than joust, it works great. It's a Siege at Winterfell deck. The entire idea behind the deck is that you cannot kill the Starks. Basically I run a bunch of Ring starks and some support for them, 2x Power of Blood... Normally I win the game on a turn where I play valar morghulis and an Epic Phase event. I play a ton of saves in my deck and run slightly defensive, I can post a deck list if you're curious. Again, it's a melee deck, so it's got a lot of survivability to it. The only issue I have with it is having a decent card draw, and it doesn't have the best set ups.

I almost always play Widow's Watch on the first turn. My typical plot layout goes, build, loyalty money can buy, Power of Blood x2, valor, red wedding. The deck also runs Feast or Famine for either a bad first turn economically or for easy power gains mid to late melee. I'll tell you this much, Widow's Watch has pissed off my group a lot.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, my question is related to playing it out of house. I completely agree its a great card to run out of Stark.

Also, since I am here. If someone does agree I should run it, how many copies do you think I should run?

2 copies of WW. That way the turn you play it, you can dupe the watch AND provide it protection. Many times when I played in my brotherhood/Lanni deck I would drop WW on a turn that didn't have any other dupe-able cards and would ensure I had a target for WW. I'd say run it OOH any time you are running a bunch of dupes. Great deck thinning. Of course a Maester deck is even better with the learned characters.

Does ww trigger off of dupes? Like if i play a dupe, can i search for a 2nd dupe?

I dont think so b/c playing a dupe only counts as playing a dupe, not playing a unique card. ktom will correct me if I am wrong.

This may depend on how often people are playing Valar vs Wildfire; it would probably be worse in melee if everyone runs WF since it is a CBS effect and would then create even more "dead" cards in your deck for you to draw into (assuming you are running 3x uniques and not 2x).

WW should be played OOH when you would be running dupes anyway irrespective of WW.
