Some rule questions [Beginner]

By Myke., in Tannhauser

Hey folks,
I'm pretty new to Tannhäuser and after my first match this weekend i have some questions about the game. Maybe some of you are willing to help me with those, which would be highly appreciated:

First of all: excuse my english. I R not native ;)

Here we go:
('nade == granade)

1) Smoke 'nades:
1.a) Does the effekt of a smoke'nade remain for the rest of the game, or does the smoke vanish after a while?
1.b) When i place a smoke'nade on a field that belongs to several paths, does the effect count for all the paths? And with Hermetikas?
1.c) If a character stands on a field that belongs to 2 paths, and one of the paths is effected by a smoke'nade and the characters is being attacked by someone standing on the non-smoke-filled path: who reveices the -3 penalty? Only the defender or noone of them? And with Hermetikas?

2) Whenever a character is killed, all his removeable items are droped onto the floor, right? But if the game isn't played at the hard skill level, this character, if not a hero might be able to respawn as reinforcement, so what happens to the equipment then? If it drops i probably can't use the same equipmentpack anymore...

3) Are 'nade debris tokens cummulative? Like: if there is one movement penalty on the field i aim with my 'nade, does that field have a -2 penalty afterwards? And -3 with another 'nade?

4) All weapons have infinity maximum range, right? (except hand2hand weapons ofc). Meaning that short range weapons are much more powerfull (range 2-INV), because much more flexible then heavy weapons (range 4-INV), although HWs deal one extra wound.

5) Thanks for reading that far =)

Regards
Thanks
Myke.

Edit: And another 2 Questions:

6) The Wolf Pack is not available anyhow anymore isn't it?

7) The two winterpacks have never been printed and sold, they are just for personal use, but no official add ons, right? Not like the Yula and Wolf Packs...

Only the defender does since they're on the smoke filled path. I imagine it's easier to look into smoke than out of it.

In that case drop what you can. Aside from nades they don't usually have gear worth picking up. If you want you could write down what your trooper has and leave the tokens but that's a personal preference.

I'm surprised you actually ran into this situation. Who let's themself get naded twice? But yeah, I think you've got the right idea here. Don't think you're supposed to go to -3 though.

That's arguable. Yes they have better range but they're also weaker. Why, as an analogy, would you run up and stab a guy bigger than you when you could use a gatling gun from a distance? It's mostly there to get you out of bad situations like hand-to-hand.

Nope and yes

I believe that grenade movement penalties are not cumulative. This came up in the old forums.

Just to clarify the Winter Packs, though there are no printed versions (outside the French gaming magazine they originally appeared in) they are official and legal for tournament play.

Hey guys,
thanks for your help =)

@3) About the 'nades, i assume non-cummulative is the way to go, since there is only one -2 debris token in my tannhäuser box, and thats the one for Tala's TNT i guess.

@4) Jep, While it's true that Heavy Weapons deal a lot more damage, i'm often in the situation that i simple can't use them because the rooms are so tight.

@Wolf) **** ;)

I got a new question to ask:

7) When i choose to customize my character and not to go with one of the standard packs, it is written that i don't get the special item. This means that i can't pick the special item as one of my 3 custom objects, right?. And therefore it seams to be a bad idea to customize my character... But i guess i just don't have enough insight to get the value of such custom-pack.

Edit: forget 7) reading the forum from bottom to top, has it's issues ;) http://new.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_foros_discusion.asp?efid=48&efcid=1&efidt=52469

Depends on the character. If, like you say, you don't get much use out of flash guns you might forego them and pick weapons you like or find more useful, like more nades, close-combat weapons, and hand-to-hand. Losing the one item can be a big disadvantage but it you're playing with a lot of crates it could work out for you.

For example, one thing that worked well for a friend was customizing Heizinger so he had the Eye of Horus, Sha-na-ra, and the healing ring. He found the gun and hermetica were useless and the Eye made up for the amulet to some extent. Then on his first crate he found a nade and took the gun off my trooper he killed with the nade. So yeah, it can work very well.

hmm, i guess the easiest way to find that out, is to just try it out. Nevertheless, some characters wear too strong special items to be customized E.g. I'll never abandon "Doom".

Thanks to all for your help so far =)

Myke - Regarding Wolf - if you are not an english speaker you may yet be able to get Wolf. I think he is available on the TOY French website, but not for shipping to English speaking countries... And FFG still has them, I'm sure...

They had a table full of them at gen-con.

FFG said they might (key word is might) havea future promo sale with him again. Though I already have him, if they happened to release him with Novgorod I might buy my 2 copies of it when it comes out (for extra troops and extra maps for demos) give a WOLF at a demo and have a future contest over at my site for those who join in later.

Butthat is a big IF. =)
