Just arrived!

By wazza, in Black Crusade

My copy was delivered Thursday, but had to wait until Friday to pick it up from the local parcel office. Not had much of a chance to look through it yet, but so far I'm liking it.

I like the difference in the layout at the start, getting a little history and background, then basic game rules, before you get into creation. Helps get a better feel for what you need to think about during creation, for anybody unfamiliar with the setting.

Only read up to halfway through the archetypes, but yeah so far I'm liking it.

My copy arrived on friday, I was surprised, since I live in Holland.

I've been happily browsing the book and I like almost everything I've seen so far even though I haven't had a chance to really dig into it. I particularly liked how each and every skill had a table of example modifications on the roll. Overall there seems to be a lot more examples spread throughout the book, which is good.

One thing that I did find lacking was the art for the weapons which were uninspiring and almost crude. A few of the xenos NPCs art were a little underwhelming too, specifically the necrons and the Eldar Harlequins.

I am looking forward to "roll" my first PC soon to try out character creation.

I just called Amazon today. They said that their FFG distributor has not sent the books to them yet :/

My game dealer called me friday that my copy was in. Picked it up Sat, and been reading it. Not a fan of playing chaos, but this book is nice. Well done FFG.

The same thing as all RPGs: Faulty spelling, rules errors, wrong references,..

You know, I could really do without the number of these things that fall through the cracks in game books - especially the first and last, which any copy editor should be picking up. Does FFG not have an editing department? If not, I'm an experienced copy editor and would happily sell my services. (ATTN:FFG!)

I'm not a native english speaker so I generally do not pick up on poor grammar and the like but Black Crusade seems to be worse than both Dark Heresy and Rogue Trader. I've also spotted quite a few obvious copy/paste/editing errors as well. Not enough for me to really get my knickers in a twist, especially since it's such an awesome ruleset compared to the previous versions, but enough to be somewhat annoying for sure.

just got my copy. 400 pages. cute :)

now lets see how many errors :)

cheers!

The problem is that for pretty much everything that isn't D&D, RPGs are a niche market with tiny margins of profit per unit. So... if you either find a way to boost sales numbers up to those of regular books or sell your own talents far enough under the market price, I'm sure FFG is interested. There's "FFG is hiring" news all around the site, so finding the address shouldn't be too hard. Send in a resume, a few references and examples of work and a very modest idea about your salary and I'm sure they might be interested.
