Child of the Goat

By MyNeighbourTrololo, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Thematically, she tries to seduce an investigator and if she succedes, then she delays him.

So, basically investigators must use their Will instead of Fight while fighting her.

What do you think?

It also would be reasonable if you can't use weapons while "fighting" her.

What happens if you defeat her using Will? Does she vaporize in a cloud of sexual frustration?

I don't know, it seems perfectly reasonable to me that if a strange woman tries to seduce you and fails to take a flame thrower to her. lengua.gif

Well, only very strong willed person will open fire against attractive woman who's trying to have sex with it.

or.. he was just standing there watching the attractive woman, still holding his flamethrower when BLAM! premature combusting.

Excuse me, but, um, there are heterosexual females and homosexual males (not to mention bisexuals), so the next time your investigator kills the lady, just think about the alternatives ;')

"Back off lady! I told you, I'm gay! Alright, now I'll show you where the phrase flaming homosexual comes from!"

It would be the lamest monster trophy ever.

"I want to be Deputy of Arkham!"

"Do you have any experience?"

"Well, I didn't have sex with a woman. Ten times!"

"Welcome to the force, son."

except for tony. he only need to not have sex five times. the urges are bigger for him so his abstinence is worth more, i suppose.

Ok. Lets talk about combat. So she beats you up and then forces herself upon you. She's a BDSM mistress or something?

She does no damage if investigator fails his check(wow if he does), she just delays him. Look at her. Will is far more reasonable and it makes her not just a free monster trophy. Who WOULDN'T beat her in normal circumstances?

In all seriousness, it's not a bad idea. It's just funny (and twisted) to think about taking her as a trophy after NOT having sex with her.

Maybe if she was returned to the cup after being defeated.

That's the weird part. You're assuming that any woman can be automatically killed.

So if Ithaqua is in play, the Goat's sexual attraction is almost impossible to resist? If you're unable to use weapons... you're going to be stuck with her for a VERY long time. :)

Yes, she becomes a lusty amazonian cannibal :'D

I know she was part goat but it was cold out, she was warm......don't look at me like that.

No, I'm assuming that this paricular woman has no other means to defend when her charm is gone.

But why would she be totally defenseless? On the monster tile, she looks pretty young and healthy. Even women who seem fairly frail like Gloria Goldberg still get a combat roll, even when they're unarmed. Is there any instance in the game of a person who can be defeated without making a combat check?

Ok, so you just trolling me. Have a nice day.

Sigh. I'm really not (though I am having a nice day). I appreciate that a potentially cool monster was botched and that you're trying to fix it. I'm suggesting that there has never been a person in the game that can be automatically killed in combat. I'm sorry that you are offended to hear that. Even with the Dark Pharaoh mask monster, which uses Lore instead of Fight, it's still considered a Combat roll. As Kevin put it, you are trying to come up with clever ways to defeat him in combat. Actually, that's not a bad idea. Make it a Combat roll that's based on Will instead of Fight. At least there's a precedent for that approach.

It always was a technically a combat roll which used will instead of fight.

No, in your first post, you said that weapons shouldn't be allowed. Weapons provide bonuses to Combat checks, but not to Fight checks. A Combat check in which weapons or spells are not allowed is a de facto Fight check.

In a later post, you say, "you need to pass will instead of combat"

So no, you weren't describing a Combat check.

The Black Man is defeated without a combat check

"Before making a Horror check, pass a Luck (-1) check or be devoured. If you pass, gain 2 Clue tokens. In either case, return the Black Man to the cup."

The Black Man isn't taken as a trophy, either. He's not really fighting you, so he just goes back to the cup after the encounter. I suggested that the Child be returned to the cup after the Will check is passed, but MyNeighbourTrololo seemed to think I was trolling him.
