Flaming Skull

By nethru, in Black Crusade

One of my players is getting Flaming Skull as his first mutation. We were unsure on some of the rules for this mutation. It states it's unnatural flames so we are a bit confused on some things.

Do the flames burn someone if they touch them? If so is it just normal fire damage?

Can the player wear any kind of headgear or does it just burn up?

Thanks.

That seems to be up to you. The part of them being unnatural could very well mean that they give off no heat and doesnt burn his fancy hat although I dont think you can hide the flames by wearing a helmet.

Was thinking in space marines case with the power armor helmet piece. I would think it would hide the flames pretty well being how durable that ceramite is unless of course the flames would damage the inside of the helmet. Gotta think about it :)

Just for the sake of style, I'd imagine they'd leak through the helmet's vents occasionally.

i would use them much like an aura. so the CSM's helmet would be on fire.

For the violent hate of Khorne why is no-one addressing the fact that he should get a warbike?!

Thats just a given and any reasonable GM would cave to that demand immediatly (or will be drawn and quartered by the players).

Yes smoke shoud lcome out of the eyes or the vents... or the helmet is on fire, or the eye are leaking fire...

or he cannot wear any helmet indeed and as a hand flamer attack when head butting!

Do the rules say anything against it? (still waiting >.<)

The gift does not give any other stuff then what is written, it is visual effect only for game purpose with the added listed trait.

I may go as far as saying if the players as a full helmet you can see it. since it is written specificaly skin is on fire.

No rules no problem buddy (the flaming headbutt of doom does sound very entertaining though)

Talking with a potential GM of mine, he has no problem with taking the cursed heirloom talent with a DW marine bike. With that and a harpoon gun, let the good times roll...

Deamon prince with flaming skull riding a bike = WH40K 3 ed. Deamon prince Doomrider. Slanesh DP unfortunelly.

Which one?

The Ghost Rider rip off or Dr. Rockzo from Metalocolypse?

Haha good old /tg/.

A way to hide it, a la Scorpion might be cool for giving enemies a nasty surprise.

You get both +1 internets, as I would have accepted either answer lengua.gif

Personaly I think this mutation is just like the one from Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2nd Ed. book Tome of Corruption. Aka it's just for flavor and the details need to be worked out by GM and player.

I so want to make a CSM from The Pyre with this mutation.

this is one of the oldest mutations in all the games :) we have decided the flames leak out of the helmet which looks especially cool on my wordbearer dark apostle who has a skull with flames and demonic horns :) so now when he isn't wearing his helmet he looks like a living chapter symbol

Now just imagine your wolrd bearer trying to put that helmet on...

Wait wait you have to insert the right horn first then you push left twist then insert the left one... Wait to small...

Is this even environment sealed anymore? I would gather bones are environementally sealed... (last famous word of a csm as is brain is sucked out through is horn holes in total vacuum)

In Black Crusade, many suit of power armour might not be environmentally sealed.

A flaming skull and a non environmentally sealed armour suit... that could be... alot of trouble.

Only if fire behaves like it would in reality, it's chaos mutation for a reason.

If they are 'warp flames' they could even pass through your helmet with no effect.

were playing our game also using material from the original realms of chaos books and in it the old chaos power armour changes with mutations :) all i'm waiting for is the chance to turn it into daemon possesed armour lol
