Dust Tactics Tournament - Oct 8 - Hobbytown USA Kennesaw GA

By BlotDitto, in Dust Tactics General Discussion

I know this is not the most notice but for those living in the Southeast within reasonable distance (it's your call if it's reasonable distance) of Kennesaw Georgia they have a Dust Tactics tournament going on.

October 8, 2011 - Saturday

Report For Duty at 1200HRS (12:00PM)

Entry Fee is: $5.00 (We have feelers out for prize support from FFG and their distributors)

Tournament Rules are as follows:

You must bring a force list of up to 160 Points which must include at least 1 Hero and no more than 2. Each scenario may or may not allow you to use your entire 160 point force, so be prepared to play smaller point battles accordingly. While you do not have to have 160 Points worth of units it would benefit you if you did. Scenarios will be rolled for from a list that includes scenarios from all operations to date including from the revised core set.

You must bring 2 copies of your force list.

We will follow the Revised Core set rules.

We will play a minimum of 3 rounds a maximum of 5 rounds to determine the top 4 to play for 1-4th place.

If you need a copy of the Revised Rules, Updated Unit Point Costs, or a copy of the Force List sheet you can find them here on the Dust Tactics website under the Support section:

Hmmm, I'd really either stick with the 160 point list OR list the other force levels so that multiple lists could be brought. It would save time rather than me scratching my head and trying to build a 110 point list because that was the scenario that suddenly got rolled.

However, if I know I will need a 160 point, 110 point, 75 point and 40 point list, then I can have them all ready to go. Even if the specification is that only units in the 160 point list can be used to make up smaller lists.

Well as they say "Nothing is fair in war". We're using this technique carried over from the World Championships. Players will have time to decide what forces to commit to the battle before it starts. Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated!

I am going to miss this tournament but hope to be in the next.

Greg

I'm going to miss it too. There was a chance I could have made it, but got stomped on tonight, I've got to work the next several Saturdays. Well I did start putting together some lists to think about with what I have:

Allied : Bazooka Joe & Rosie (38)

Bot Hunters & Gunners (42)

Pounder (40)

2xRecon Boys & Crack Shots (40)

Axis: Sigrid & Markus (40)

Laser & Recon Grenadiers (43)

Battle Grenadiers & Tank Hunters (43)

Axis Gorillas & Snipers (34)

Just off the cuff things. Since I have no clue what the point levels I might have to reduce to are at, I made sure I had some cheaper units to mix and match without losing a big lump like I could if I went:

Joe & Ozz (42)

Grim Reapers & Bot Hunters (48)

2xMickey (70)

No vehicles on the Axis was cute, but mainly because I paid the price for Markus, Gorillas & Laser Grenadiers. I'd like to include a Command Squad for both sides, but I'm not sure I like the idea of 25% of my points being sucked up into a bunch of special abilities that shoots like a Recon squad. Now, I would add it on if the baseline was 200, but...
