I'm starting a Rogue Trader campaign, and my players have the information retention of rabid squirrels. I figured an evolving wiki would serve nicely. Any have recommendations for a free wiki host? I'm very new to the wiki world and know practically nothing (OK, actually nothing) about it. Thanks!
Wiki host?
You can also use freeforums dot org or wetpaint dot org. Wetpaint allows a complete backup to be created and downloaded and freeforums has some great control son appearance and permissions.
Use wikispaces; check my signature, there is a link to my campaigns' wikipage...it's free, players can join in on your page and update their sheet, add info and all that, very useful thing to keep records of your games.
It's easy to use, easy to read, best thing ever.
Obsidian Portal is a wiki space designed for campaign websites. The free version allows one to host 2 games and join an unlimited number.
I find it quite useful for games, as they've got a great number of dynamic character sheets - and more people requesting Rogue Trader ones would be most beneficial for all of us players.
I'm about half done with a Rogue Trader sheet for Obsidian Portal, actually. The only variable at this point is how fancy it should be. The version I'm playing with has separate tabs for skills, talents, powers and equipment that you can switch between. Couple of weeks to a month until it's done, tops.

So much <3s right now. Man <3s.
Hi
A friend of mine runs a gaming forum you might want to take a look at. I don't know if it is what you are looking for but it might help.
The forums's web address is: www.bigbangburgerbar.co.uk/Forum
I hope this helps

So a couple of weeks turned into a couple of years, but it's essentially finished at this point. I'm using the Only War conversion rules for my games so it's got Aptitudes and such, but for the most part it's a functional sheet. Couple of minor visual hitches that need to be patched up.
Holy crap, you can do that with obsidian portal? I need to figure out how to pull that off....
Yup, dynamic sheet templates. Not too hard if you're comfortable with HTML and CSS, fancy stuff can be done with jQuery.

I afraid to click on this link, for some odd reason.

I don't suppose there's any way for you to share this, or will we have to figure it out ourselves?
Make a campaign on Obsidian Portal, tagged as Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader. Any characters you make will have a drop-down at the top of the sheet. Select Rogue Trader - Only War Aptitudes, and you're good to go. There are a couple of minor bugs(ie, when you click on a checkbox it creates a span field with the checkbox's CSS in it. Click away from it and you're fine) and visual things I still need to sort out, but it's fully functional other than that.
As a sample of how it looks now, this is the current campaign character list: https://rogue-trader-just-here-for-the-explosions.obsidianportal.com/characters
Edited by ErrantIs this a file you can share, or is this strictly for Obsidian Portal? I love the look of it
Uhhh, I could make it into a PDF I guess? You'd lose all the tab switching and stuff though. It's all designed to interface with Obsidian Portal data, but the devkit might save... I'll see if there's something that I can do to make it platform independent.
Actually just thought of something I need to add; one of the annoying things about Obsidian Portal is that you need to add a secret for keeping track of what players have bought. I'll add in a tab for experience history as well.
Thanks a bunch! I love the look of the character sheet, but I don't always have internet access where we play!
Technically you could just open up a cached version of it, it's all the same page with hidden divs anyway. Devkit needs some work to make it save the values somewhere it can read them, but it should work.
