Hellfire Pass - Can tanks move up hills?

By Myles2, in Tide of Iron

Sounds like/probably is a dumb question, but I just finished solo playing Hellfire Pass. I moved tanks up hills at 2 movement point cost.

Is that right?

I tried to get the 88 crews suppressed allowing the British tanks to move up into the 88 blind spots at the base of the hills. Then I overran the German infantry adjecent to the 88's. I got about 2 or 3 tanks up the hills into this mode.

By then the British infantry was reinforcements were numerous enough that they I was able to take one 88 position, but not the other. Germans held barely.

From the rules, p. 46

Movement Cost: The cost of moving onto a
hill hex is 1, if the moving unit came from a
hex of the same or higher level than the hill
hex entered. When moving “uphill” onto a
hill hex that is one level higher than the
unit’s previous hex, the movement cost 2. Note that (as with all
other terrain movement costs) a unit moving by contiguous road
ignores the “uphill” movement penalty and pays a movement
cost of 1.

So thats right! But when you are entering the hill by a contigous road, there ist movement 1.

As long as you don't move from level 0 to level 2 that should be just fine....
