Just some quick questions:

1) What are the good symbols/characters for control?

2) Are Kilik, Rock Howard, K', Donovan, Ryu, or Ken top tier/good in the most supported tournament format?

3) What are the tournament formats? WHere are the big events?

Again, much love and appreciation for taking the time to respond! I'm a pretty big tournament player and I can't wait to get started on this game!

Rock Howard and Donovan are contenders, especially the latest Rock Howard, who has some very decent abilities.

1) Order, Evil, All, Chaos, and imho Water

2) All the characters you mentioned have some form of them that is a top tier contender in block 3 except K' who doesn't have a character in block 3

3) There are three format types

Legacy: All Cards
Block 2: all cards with a 3 point shuriken watermark and the majority of the characters. Our current standard
Block 3: Block 3 will be Standard format come March. Only cards with a 4 point shuriken watermark and all characters with a 4 point shuriken underneath their vitality are legal

sets available for block 3: 8-12 ( 12 begins block 3 in march)

8: SNK / SF

9: DarkStalkers / SF

10: SNK / SC3

11: SNK / SF

12: Shadowar / SC4

boxes MSRP is $79.99 iirc. not sure, some stores are +/- on this. boxes contain 24 packs and 1 promo card for that set (only available in that box).

The promo card isnt so much a promo card but a 1 per box set card for the most part. Calling it a promo make it sound like you can win it but in reality its only available in one way, and thats 1 per specific box.

If your interested in getting into the game the starter decks actually do contain some **** fine tourney worthy cards and are usually buying a box for (2 of each starter). Specifically Cutting edge because of the box topper. If your interested in Rock howard there is a version of him only available in the starter set boxes in that set.

Yeah its not likely, but really its interesting.

First is the two momentum. Where abouts unknown was good fuel for that (off of order here). Experienced combatant, Blood Runs True, Programmed Malfunction, Sophitia stuff check hacking, Armoured Defense to nuke the add cards to hand bit of his ability if you needed to do so, Psycho Style for more foundation commital, Juni's Cannon Spike and Arrow, and that one Sophitia reversal you cna discard for check hate for some fun with Reversals (as you've probably got a few extra cards in hand, and best to attack on their turn when you're not getting the extra card added to your pool due to his ability) and Kuzuryu Reppa (pick up those face down cards generated by this multiple) make for an interesting start to one's build.

Themey as heck, but it has some mild potential.

I''m now considering an All build of him with Make a Difference to help on defense a bit, and Alex stuff for face down card discarding to continue on with one's turn mostly unefected. Less control this way, but you still get to keep a few fun all tricks like Psycho Style, and I might recommend Prankster in this build (not so much in the Order build as I think its probably one of the least desireably foundations to choose from).

Meh. Its a thought. Then again I spend entirely too much time doing things for UFS that aren't analyzing decks right now that are hot or not, so what do I know? its still fun though! That's what counts?

Starter Rock Howard with Chop + Fully Recovered + Raw Talent could be a kinda cool, it's too bad that Lord of the Makai is All's only momentum generation -- but it wouldn't be too hard to make an Order splash for Natural Leader, or just go All attack base + Order foundations straight away. If you can hit the 2 momentum every turn, li'l Howard's F makes a beastly stall tactic - I mean, they're afraid to release Donovan** who doubles progressive difficulty, but guess what RH does XD. Even if he commits and must pay 2 momentum to do it...

It'd be a funny deck to play, and I could see it winning some games, but Tag Along nerfs him, and he's only a 6HS for matches where he needs to win a control war before going anywhere.
