Premium Revised Core Set and Unpainted Revised Core Set

By player359820, in Dust Tactics

I just got my unpainted Revised Core Set in today. The "Hans" in the Premium set uses the same legs as the earlier light walkers, but the one in the unpainted set has these same legs mounted side by side. I like both sculpts, and it does add a good variation to my light mechs. I have 2 more Revised Core Sets due here on the 14th, and will post pics to see if the legs are the same in them all of if my unpainted set is a fluke. I am hoping they are the side by side mounts, as I will switch them out on my earlier lights to give some more variation. Right now they all look the same.

I did not notice any other significant differences. The pose on one of the Heavy Laser Grenadiers is actually better than the painted one.

I am kinda on the fence for my purchase. I haven't been able to find really nicely lit shots of the units and walkers. I hope you will be able to post some well lit, hi resolution imagery of the models; capturing the paint quality and thusly showing why this set is worth $300 bucks.

It costs you $240 from Dust Studios and gets to you in 7 days. It is well worth it. I will try to post good pictures, but my camera sucks.

I'm sure the minis are super quality. I just love seeing spoiler pics before I buy. I'm trying to scrounge some bits together to buy a set :)

Awesome!!! I think you just helped me make up my mind! Thanks again for posting.

Did everything arrive in mint condition? I'm a pretty big stickler for that when it comes to collectibles and shelling out that kind of cash for them.

Also, do the minis feel like they have any protective varnish on them (matte coat sealer) so that they can stand up to the daily abuse of normal play?

Thanks again for posting the pics - much appreciated!!!

Everything was perfect on arrival. As far as the protective sealant, I am not entirely sure, but I am going to dull coat them myself to make sure.

Thanks for posting these pics! I´m mildly annoyed by the lack of official, good quality pictures of what the Premium versions actually look like. The pictures on the FFG site are all too small to determine the quality of the paint job.

Maybe its because the results are not that spectacular? I guess its fine compared to board game components, especially the vehicles. But compared to miniature wargames, the infantry seems pretty crude. In the second pic that guy with the shotgun doesn´t even have a face?? How is that "an exact replica of Dust Studio Master Painter Vincent Fontaine’s work" ??
