Quality issues with Innsmouth and Kingsport Boards

By EulenNatzer, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Hi,

I got Innsmouth and Kingsport and found some issues considering the quality of the board.

My Innsmouth board has the printing on the outside!

And my Kingsport board has two wrinkles next to the middle (left and right).

(Boxes were sealed)

Are these known problems or am I the only costumer facing them ?

Having an unplain board doen't even bug me that much, but the printing on the outside might cause some trouble considering scratches.

Are these cases the costumer support would care about? (I live in Germany so Heidelberger Spielverlag is the one to contact, or FFG ?)

That is odd. I haven't heard of problems like this with the boards in the past but it should be worth your while to contact customer support. They have a good reputation.

My Innsmouth board had a little wrinkle, but my Dunwich board was fine. Maybe bad luck?

contact support, they have sent me replacement boards for other games in the past.

and what did you mean by 'outside'?

I think he means on the back.

I opened my Innsmouth and Kingsport boxes today and I can see what he means by the printing on the 'outside'. Basically, when you fold the board to put it back in the box, it folds with the playing side out. I am pretty sure it was designed that way though it does seem odd to fold a board and still see the game side. Is that the way everyone's boards are?

No. You should see the black back when the board is folded.

Mine are printed on the outside, too. I wonder if it has to do with the edition (mine are from the latest print run).

Yes, I suspect mine are one of the newer print editions as well. Though if it is a goof I wonder if FFG will replace them with the proper boards, I really don't want my boards to get extra wear and tear from folding the wrong way.

I dropped an email to FFG customer support, so hopefully they will get back to me.

this seems odd - more likely to be a fault than a design decision - I cant think of any good reason for it to be the way it is for you. Best wishes in finding your solutions.

Same issue here with my KH board. I just sent CS an email. Just a matter of waiting, I guess.

Well I got an KH replacement board from HDS the publisher here in Germany.

The replacement has the same problem. ;)

So it is very likely that the KH issue is the norm. T_T

Here is the reply I got:

We don't replace boards fold with the game playing area facing outward. That is normal during the manufacturing process. Some boards come off the production line that way. There is nothing to worry about.
