Could Red Sign of Shudde M'ell be used against an Ancient One?

By Override0, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Would it be possible to use Red Sign of Shudde M'ell against an Ancient One in the last battle to remove that Ancient One magical or physical immunity? Especially since nothing on the card rules it out against Ancient Ones, unlike Bind Monster for example.

If it would work, I suppose we would have to cast it every new round?

Red Sign can't be used to remove Magical Immunity per the card text. As for it being used on an Ancient One I'd say no but I'd wait for someone with more experience (cue Tibs) to chime in.

Only works on monsters and Ancient Ones aren't monsters.

Well, Dam said it concisely. AOs aren't monsters. They don't even have an associated "toughness" value, which is the first clue that something was awry.

You see Dam too? Wow, I guess I can stop taking those meds.

I think the original confusion is really from Bind Monster specifically mentioning it can't be used on AOs when it already says "monster". AH would be a helluva lot easier if they didn't feel the need to use so many words.

You could say that the toughness is equal to the number of hits to remove 1 doom token, with a minimum of 1 hit required (otherwise a single investigator game with a Red Sign would be easy).

I'm sure the FAQ will sort everything out.
