5th Rangers Bn. - Fox Company

By JigBakerSugar, in Dust Tactics

Finally getting around to painting up my figures. First up is a recon squad. I did a test figure last night, but I don't have time at the moment to set up proper lights. But here is the first squad, primed and ready to go. I added a few bits to customize them a bit- the NCO got a holstered sidearm, and the rest of the squad got other assorted bits. (Canteen, first aid kit, ammo pouches, etc.)

But...but...Dust figures are pre-primed...

1. But the bits I added weren't.

2. I have over 20 years of experience painting over white primer, and I prefer it. I painted over the green primer on my test figure, out of laziness. And, as always, I spent most of the process kicking myself for not re-priming white.

I would prefer they were all pre-primed in white. Are you using a lighter primer when you do this?

I'm not sure what you mean. I'm using a white primer. (Rustoleum, to be exact.)

Ah, I see. I thought I had mentioned in my post that it was white primer. My mistake.

I also prime my models white ... Rustoleum spray primer to be exact.

It's what nature intended. Any other primer color is an unholy abomination.

Wow...I must be...well...something wickedly evil. Heheheh.

I prime in black. Every time.

I like that you added the extras. Recently got a Tamiya Amis kit (and a panzergrenadier kit on the way) and there are lots of extras so I'll be doing the same myself once I'm done w/ the regulars.

You know who primes in black? COMMUNISTS AND THE DEVIL.

I wanted to add full gear to each figure (canteen, first aid, ammo) but opted to stretch out what I've got in order to do more units. I'm hoping to get another photo up later tonight (or tomorrow) to show my progress. (And I'll snap a shot of my test fig too.)

Can't wait to see them painted!

I'm lazy, I prime is the dominant color of the model. Either Khaki, Grey, White, Black or Silver...
