Wandering gug and short fuse

How many times is Wandering gug wounded by a Short fuse. Therefor, how many cards does an opponent have to discard off the top of there deck? If the gug is assumed to be unaltered (or in a vanilla state) is the answer 1, 2, or 7?

You can only trigger his response once as all the wounds were placed as part of a single effect. So only discard 1 card.

The same question came up with the Educated Officer. I think there was a ruling that all the wounds are dealt simultaneously so with the Officer you draw 7 cards and with the Gug you discard seven.
