My finished Ludwig by new model painter.

By Cead, in Dust Tactics

Our gaming group is doing a 200 point per person game this weekend, so I thought I would get around to painting some of my minis. I started with the Ludwig. This is the first time I have painted a tank type model. I have painted lots of minis and I make foam scenery as well as artistics displays professionally. I never did weathering, or anything like that before on a model. I found this forum through a gaming friend and found lots of ideas. I tried to use some of them on this model. Let me know what you think and what I could do better next time. I have lots more to paint!

I think it looks fantastic. Great job! I'm a new painter myself and still sorting out how I will paint my walkers.

Nice battle damage. Nice work, overall.

How did you do the bullet holes? They have a very nice shape, I'd only add a bit of silver inside the dent.

The bullet holes were melted in by a hot foam/wood cutter/burner. The tool plugs into the AC and gets hot enough to burn wood. I just lightly touched it to the plastic. The tool has several tips and I used a pointy tip for this. It worked out pretty well. Its made by Walnut Hollow and I bought it at Hobby Town. I'll try your suggestion about the silver inside the holes on the next model I paint. Thanks.

Man, I hope your doing the bullet holes outside, because burning/melting plastic fumes are super toxic! Otherwise, he looks quite nice, esp. for a new painter!
