Waist Articulation - Important to Rules or Not?

By Methos, in Dust Tactics

Hey gang!

Great painting jobs - all of you! Really inspiring and I can't wait to get started on mine.

Which brings me to my questions about the Unit Model Waist Articulation:

1. Does this cause any difficulty when painting?

2. Is it important to any specific rules (forgive me for asking prematurely as I just received the boxed set and have only looked at the models) - to keep the waist articulation, or do you all just glue the model at the waist - for easier painting?

Thanks for any and all advice!

Waist articulation only matters if you don't want butts under stomachs. ;)

No rules effect or painting challenges instigated. And no quick retreat if their legs are facing the wrong way. It's just for coolness.

Welcome to the game and the forums.

Like Lotus said, the waist articulation does not effect the models in-game. Though it does really help facilitate easier access to hard to reach spots, when painting them!

Indeed, waist articulation has no effect on the game, but it has a couple of benefits: You can vary the poses of your models a little bit, and it makes it easier to paint by getting arms and weapons out of the way.

Thanks for all the feedback! I have actually been looking at the models and how being able to move the waist DOES indeed help the painting process; reaching the hard nooks and crannies of the models.

Move the waist? I pop the torso off, and the head.... easier to paint with that 4" wide brush I use.

I pop off the torsos and snip off about 5mm from the plug before re-gluing the waists and heads back on with S-glue, just seems to make a snugger fit and less unsightly gaps on the model, dunno what they use to originally stick some of the parts together but I certainly wouldn't use the word 'glue'....

Excellent idea, thanks
