im sure the answer is probably in the rule book but i cant find it. can you have mutiple copies of the same support card in play as long as it is not unique and still get all the benefits from both support cards? for example can i have 2 courage in play to give my guys an additional 2 hit points or am i only allowed to just have 1 in play?

As long as its not unique, you can have multipe copies in play and their effects stack. So two Dutch Courage would indeed give your characters a total of Toughness +2.
