Another Rickon copy question

By HoyaLawya, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Based on the copying effects thread I have a question about Rickon and the Summoning/Building season plots. What if your opponent chose you for their plot and you kneel Rickon? Does the opponent then get to choose a new opponent and, if playing melee, potentially choose someone else for the copied effect?

Hmm, the rules for copying effects are not made very explicit in the rule book. I had assumed that when you copy an effect you resolve the copy as though you initiated it yourself. So if you copy your opponent's Summoning/Building Season, you would have to choose an opponent. That was my understanding though. I don't know of an official ruling.

That is how it works. You are initiating the copied effect, so you resolve it as if you had initiated the original card (minus costs and play restrictions), so YOU do the choosing of targets.

Good. This makes Rickon even more valuable in Melee, especially combined with weasel's way.
