My Tannhäuser Repaints

By grenzmord, in Tannhauser

Recently i painted my Tannhäuser collection.

It may not be my best work to day, but it was quick and a great improvement over the default paintjobs.

Here are some groupshots:

If you are interested feel free to check the album, many more pictures: s739.photobucket.com/albums/xx39/grenzmord/Tannhauser/

The resolution is also much higher in the album.

Comments are much appreciated :)

You have a VERY good eye for color, **** good and pretty to look at. I think I'll be happy with my pretend soldiers not looking pretty tho. lol.

That looks **** good!

They look great. I like the look of asteros.

Just wanted to echo the comments that your repaints look great! I especially like the way Asteros turned out - he fits in better with the other figures with the more detailed paintjob. I think the simple paintjob of the original contributes to the cartoon feel of the figure.

The eyes on Karl and the Stosstruppen are also nice touches =)

Thanks for the comments so far :)

Asteros prepainting was very cartoony, i agree, i think his very white teeth played a major role in that.

awesome job!

these guys aren't too easy to paint - how much do you wish you had unpainted minis to start from? gui%C3%B1o.gif

It was different, on some figures the prepainting was a useful starting point, on others it simply would not hold new colours (especially hound dog and ramirez were very bad in that regard.

But i would have loved unassembled figures, Zorka was quite tricky, both painting and removing flash...

Unpainted miniatures existed back when Take On You manged the IP.

You could find two boxed sets: One for the core game squads (Reich + Union) and one for the Matriarchy. I know that some French shop still stock them.

No unpainted miniatures from the single pack series were ever sold, however some were given as promo material.

ever paint War Hammer?

I have painted a lot of different miniatures over the year, including a few Warhammer Figures and actually quite a lot Warhammer 40k figures, yes.
Recently i mostly paint miniatures for squad level games, painting armies simply takes too much time for my current shedule.

Your painting is very professional: congratulation the miniatures are wonderfull. It's difficult to paint on soft plastic material like these miniatures, the colours cuold crumble because of a minimal torsional movements.

Which kind of colours did you use for? Did you remove the original painting first or did you use uncoulored minatures form the beginning?

i used the prepainted figures and just painted ointo them after removing flash.

I use a combination of Privateer Press P3, Vallejo Game Color and Citadel Washes and Inks.

i've been using Reaper Master Series for painting Space Hulk and other minis - does Vallejo offer a more accurate pallete for WWI/WWII minis that anyone knows of?

I pretty certian Vallejo does a range of WW2 colors, I know they have a German WW2 grey, I'm sure there's more.

These are great, I've been toying with the idea of repainting mine and getting rid of the flash and now I've seen how they can turn out Im definately gonna do it.

First of all, the minis look freaking awesome.

Secondly, I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't know what "flash" is. Can someone fill me in? o.O

Flash is just the mold lines and other little bits of plastic left over from molding the figs.

Thanks, Miah! Oh and I saw the official release about both Mizu Kage and Itami coming out now!! (so excited!)
