Win-determining rules question

By Solan, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Okay, the answer to this question will determine whether we actually won against Zhar or not. One character got the Train Station encounter which states, "Draw the top gate marker, then travel to that Other World and replace the gate marker on top of the gate marker pile."

Now, does this cause you to be Delayed, as a gate opening on you in the encounter phase would? I'm going to say no, since an extremely similar card at the Black Cave specifically says you are Delayed. What does everyone else think?

Sadly, I do not know. There are so very many effects that suck you through gates. Many of them use the word "drawn," like the Nightgaunt and the Through the Threshold Reckoning. The same terminology is also used for gates opening you, so i've been playing that these effects mean you are delayed. However, when it just says "travel" or "move," it's a lot less clear. Vocabulary strikes again, it would seem. Anyone know if there's been an offical ruling on this?

I'd say it's an easy "no." No gate opened on you, so you are not delayed. Drawing the gate served as the indicator of your destination only (as there aren't many good ways to do so—at least, none that include Another Dimension). This also means that "devouring" or "doom" effects do not trigger.

At least it's on the top of the pile, so that the next gate to open goes to where you are.

Then that's how I'm going to report it, Tibs. Thanks!
