FFG misses alot of deadlines and release dates that they themselves set.

Yea, it happens. And I'm definitely in the "make it balanced and playable even if it takes longer" camp. Hate to use a video game for reference, but remember Fallout New Vegas?

It does happen, but I have been waiting 3 years for Pulp Cthulhu from Chaosium and it took me 4 years to get the sequal to Berlin '61 finished and off to the publisher (also Chaosium). So even Im guilty! But I am in the 6 month of waiting for Only War as well (FFG).

But Im sure it will be worth it.

I wonder if a small part of the delay has anything to do with adding SSU into the book. Might be a nice sneak peak of what is to come rather than have to release an expansion in several months to cover the new items coming out.

Guess not. Hopefully this book will come out soon.

Per Amazon the book is on pre-order:

Dust Warfare Core Book
Buy new: $39.99
Available for Pre-order. This item will be released on May 11, 2012.

Amazon has had that date for a long, long time. I truly think it will be next month, especially seeing that an achievement in the new game night kit involves winning a Dust Warfare game (and the game nights are 6 week leagues)

FWIW, it's now listed as "at the printer" on the upcoming products page.

It's been listed as "At the Printer" since September 2011. Clearly not an accurate indication of where it's at in development.

I asked my local store and they also said May 11th. I hope that's not accurate and FFG's "1st quarter 2012" on their "Upcoming" page is the final word on it. However, with 1st quarter done in 3 weeks, I would think the book would have to be no longer "At the printers" for it to make it to any stores by the advertised date.

This is too bad - right now I'm holding off on ordering anything Dust related until the book comes out and I can see what would be the best to get for both Tactics and Warfare.

if you look closely at the add, its for the expansion book for the red army. personnally i've been waiting for these rules since before dust tactics came out but i'd rather wait for a great game then rush a game thats going to post soo many erratas up afterwards to help balance the game

Yeah, the fact that they're still advertising the expansion for 2nd quarter at least gives me confidence that they still think the core book will be out quite soon.

For what it's worth, Alliance Game distributors has the following release dates. The core rulebook moved from Feb to Mar recently for them. Until I see otherwise, I am cautiously hoping we see it this month.

FFGDWF01 Dust Warfare: Core Book [Mar, 2012 Release] - $39.95
FFGDWF02 Dust Warfare: Campaign Book ''Zverograd'' [May, 2012 Release] - $19.95

Just been on Tabletop gaming news and Warfare has a side Banner saying that it's now on its way 2nd Quarter2012! So that's anytime from 1st April to 30th June. I might put it on my Christmas list, it might be out with Op cerebus by then ( UK). The rug pulled yet again thanks FFG!

Again, as stated just previously, that banner is for the Wafare Zverograd expansion not for the core rulebook.

Double checked and indeed I jumped the gun with my rant. Sorry everyone.

No problem. I think it would be best if FFG would get the core rules for Warfare out before they hype so many items in the pipeline. I understand why they do it, but it just becomes noise after awhile when you cannot put it into context. Just my opinion. YMMV. happy.gif

Agree Totally.

FFG have too many different systems/products/licenses to cover any one sufficiently imo. There is also an increasing problem of them not being able to provide a steady supply of DT product outside the US. EG. Still waiting here for light and heavy walkers/ card pack etc so even if the Core rules make an apperance soonish it will most likely be mid year + minimum before it hits the shelves locally. So to re-iterate on your point its all well and good to continually show the pretty pictures but at some point you have to make them available and then cover the ensuing demmand adequately...

All enthusiam that had been built up for this is dead in the water around my area.

Can't really be bothered pushing a game (again) that is highly likely to be unsupported from the outset.

Well, I suppose that's acceptable, given that they've now effectlively missed two deadlines...FFG shouldn't announce products until they are ready.

I mean, before they have a solid idea of when they can deliver. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those guys who goes up in arms about it, but it's a bit sad to hear of enthusiasm being built up on the basis of those delivery dates only to have it die off.

The solution: don't start building up enthusiasm for a product before it has a release date (not just a release estimate)

Well so far they've only missed one deadline which was the fourth quarter one. They updated that with a news article to make the game better, which if you're going to delay it better be to fix gameplay. So, IMO,they've done alright considering. Just sucks to wait

Hekal Xul, a quick question and a comment. I noticed you commented that you were having a hard time getting the Dust Tactics/Warfare minis where you live and I get the impression its not in the US so where do you live? My comment is that I understand your frustration with how long it took to get the Dust Warfare Core Rules out. I was one of those people who bought the original Dust Tactics Deluxe Edition simply in anticipation of Dust Warfare and started to lose heart myself. While sales were brisk at first at our local game store for Dust minis, they've come to a virtual standstill for the past six months. I eagerly got a set of the rules as soon as they came out. Fortunately, a local gamer (he's well known on this site) ran a game of DW last weekend that was very well received and I'm helping him run another game at the shop tomorrow (3:30 pm EST, 12 May, Morningstar Game Store, Savannah, GA ) to help re-generate interest. I'm confident it will. I'm an old historical gamer and new to DW but I will say that if you run a few games of DW in your area you'll get people interested in the game again. Good luck and have a great gaming weekend.

Isnt Dust studios (the originator, that still sells models, dice, etc…) in France? Why would you have a harder time getting Dust in Europe than the US?

They're in Hong Kong. Order anything directly from their site, and that's where it comes from.
