Questions re: overview of LCG sets/expansions & the best method for deck building

By MrHegemony, in CoC General Discussion

I'm completely new to CoC and am getting in with another friend for the new LCG. After reading through the forums today, this is my understanding as to the chronological order of currently-released LCG sets/expansions (identified by their white borders):

  1. Asylum Pack #5: At the Mountains of Madness
  2. Asylum Pack #6: Ancient Horrors
  3. Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game (Core Set)
  4. The Summons of the Deep - Asylum Pack #1: The Spawn of the Sleeper

Is this correct?

Also, what's the best method for looking up the current LCG cards available? I've downloaded Nyarlazorbec's deckbuilder which includes images for MoM and AH, and it looks awesome - is this basically what everyone uses? I see that there's some debate over the best way to add the Core Set to the deckbuilder, is there a visual deck list that players are using in the meantime?

That's a lot of questions, so thanks in advance to everyone for being patient with me!

Your list is correct atm, but I'd be just as curious to hear about this proposed "visual deck builder."

I use an excel spreadsheet spoiler for deck building. It is searchable and filterable.

One tab is a database with columns for title, traits (unique, steadfast, transient), type, faction, cost, skill, icons, subtype, game text, set, and rarity.

A second tab lets you enter a decklist by quantity and card name, it then automatically fills out the other fields for the card, and provides statistics for number of cards in deck by type, faction, and cost.

The Deckbuilder is a piece of software that can be found here . And it's very, very handy!

Hey Kalandine, although I plan on using the deck builder, I'd love to check out your spreadsheet. Can you email me at Mrhegemony AT gmail DOT com? It'd especially make it easier for when I'm at work ;)
