Tyranid Hive Fleet Conversion from Battlefleet Gothic

By Akishma, in Deathwatch Gamemasters

Hi Im at present working on my current campaign, that being the Oblivion's Edge, I was wondering if anyone has attempted to convert the Hive fleet vessels to the Rogue Trader system. Since my intentions are using the ship combat system from Rogue Trader. If anyone has ideas for converting Battlefleet Gothic stats to the Rogue Trader combat system I would be very grateful.

Look for "The Great Devourer" on my webpage, linked to in my signature. There's a full array of Bio-ships in there, as well as descriptions of a Tyranid invasion. The actual Tyranid creature stats are out of date and need serious revision, but I've been too busy writing for FFG for the past couple of years to finish that particular overhaul.

Thanks NO-1 H3r3 I will take a look at your web page.

Wow, No1, looks like you've covered the anticipated material in the upcoming Achillus 'Assault'...bloody nicely done, again, sir! gran_risa.gif aplauso.gif

I did those ages ago. Now, to be fair, Achilus Assault was never going to have rules for Tyranid ships purely because Deathwatch itself has no rules for starships.

As I've said, The Great Devourer could do with some updating, but a lot of my writing effort has gone towards official books (such as Black Crusade , and the forthcoming First Founding , and books coming after that which I can't discuss except to say that I can't discuss them), so I've really not had the time or opportunity.

Beyond that, get Achilus Assault anyway - I've seen the manuscript, and a couple of chapters of the print-ready document (as reference material on another book), and it's a really useful book for adventure hooks and setting information

Well, good on you that yer one of the gamemakers happy.gif ...this allows me a rare opportunity gui%C3%B1o.gif ...

ready?

It'll take a lot to convince me to dive into Achillus Crusade one whole year after we've started our campaign there (my Jericho Reach is mine, now, and I have no plans to retconn) (though, if you've got a good hook to grab me with, lay it on me!)

However, I have not quite yet convinced myself to avoid First Founding like the plague...so, if you could do FFG a great favour, pls sell me on this sourcebook...what's in there that I won't be able to live without? Are the chapter game mechanics gonna be 'poo-pooed' by the community at large and be personalized (as with the Imperial Fists)? (I don't mean to lay on you the sole task of marketing this book to me, or of violating any oaths you may have taken, but FFG would be glad if you could convince me to give them more of my $.) As you may not be aware, my knowledge of the ancient, dark days is extensive (and by most accounts highly heretical; but my knowledge predates most of what has come later...); so, there's little to intrigue me regarding First Founding legions...but, one point that would be in the book's favour would be full, in-depth listings of the game mechanics of ALL the traitor legions...which would give us the baseline of ALL space marine chapters...so, does the book possess this? Or are some chapters glossed over? Or are the full details of the traitor legions only to be had in the upcoming rpg release?

Thanx for any response you may have!

I can't discuss anything yet (Non-disclosure agreement means that I can't discuss any part of a book that hasn't already been revealed through official channels), but be patient - I'm putting the finishing touches to a pair of designer diaries on the sections I worked on, which should help provide a decent idea as to what First Founding contains.
