This is directed more at the folks who I know do lots of game mods. Does anyone have any image files of the tiles? Particularly the outdoor tiles?
JPGs of tiles
As it happens, I've scanned in all of the tiles from all the games in order to start making up my own dungeon levels with photoshop.
They are not all done yet, but I could get them finished soonish.
What email address should I use to send them to?

I'm interested in those tiles, please, if you can, send them at [email protected] !
Thank you!

Cool, send them to [email protected] at your convience.
@Osaka: I have that program and do use it, but it doesn't have any of the outdoor tiles in it last time I looked at it and that's mostly what I need right now. Try to make some custom outdoor encounters.
Please, send those to [email protected], too.
Thx a lot!
I would love it if you sent them to bart.descent at gmail dot com as well Paul Grogan, thanks already.
I would appreciate a copy of these as well, if it's not too much trouble. [email protected]
Oh man, what have I started. Ok all, I will be working on these still. However, personal life has stepped in the way a little bit, so its going to be a week or two.

Slacker!
Paul, when you get them finished, rather than sending it individually to the different people who have requested it, maybe create a photobucket account for them or something, that way you only have to post a link! :-)
Paul,
I am working on scanning the new tiles in as well. Perhaps we can share the effort to half the work. I have already scanned in the base set, WoD, and AoD. Examples can be seen if you download a quest map of mine (or two) . I use a scale of one tile square is 96x96 pixels wide.
Chris
Hi all,
This has taken longer than I thought. I’ve combined them all into one PNG file. That way, the transparency is preserved, so you will notice they do not have a white background, but only a white border.
Hopefully, this should make it easy for you to use in any paint program.
I hope this is ok and works for you. Comments welcome.
The actual file is just under 10Mb (at 150dpi), so I have uploaded it to a website
http://people.exeter.ac.uk/pg234/runestone/boardgames/descent/
The file is Descent Outdoor.png
I am working on the rest of the tiles from JitD / AoD / WoD and am about 75% of the way through.
Hope this is ok for everyone. Let me know what you manage to do with it.
Paul
Great thanks
Schweeet.
(now adding bs text to get past the "your post is too short" crap. I think I might start publishing a novel on the board where each line of the story will be used to fill in these spaces.)
Has anyone made use of the file yet? I'm still tempted to do the same with all the dungeon pieces, but its quite a bit of work - if nobody needs it, I might not do it.

I'm a software developer and, when my work and my fiancee allows me to do it, I'm developing my version of the map editor. But it will take some time.
So yes, if you can do it, it will be of great help
Paul,
I asked Fantasy Flight Games their position on posting JPG's of tiles and got this back in response:
Chris:
You may only do so if they are in web resolution (72dpi) or lower, and as long as you are not making any money off them (i.e. you can't have any banner ads on the same page, or have a PayPal donation button).
You must also place the following on the page these scans are on: "Descent: Journeys in the Dark is Copyright © Fantasy Flight Games. All Rights Reserved."
If we are able to create a new dungeon creation program, we will most likely ask you to remove the scans.
Yours,
Jeremy Stomberg

As I mentioned before, I have scanned all of the original tiles (and most of the RTL and TOI tiles). While they are at 96dpi, it is small effort to change the resolution to 72dpi and post them. Your work is very well done and if you want to continue to make high-quality scans of the tiles, go ahead. I will upload my low quality scans to my site. Just thought I'd share this with you and perhaps save you a lot of time and effort.
Thanks for finding that out. I guess I'll have to remove the file from my site and keep the rest for personal use.
At least you got a reply from FFG. It seems all my emails to them about rules questions, and subsequent "complaints" about the fact that I havent received any kind of reply from anyone (not even an acknowledgement) from emails sent to them now 6 weeks ago, have been pretty much ignored.
That's too bad. I just downloaded your outdoor tiles and set them up as individual layers on photoshop. I was looking forward to getting the other tiles.

Out of curiosity, have any of you heard of Tilesystem?
http://members.cox.net/shawnriordan/tilesystem.htm
The free map editing program.
Uses 32bit PNG images.
Whatever dimensions you wish.
Allows you to create your own tileset, if you learn the XML.
Has an example tileset using the Doom boardgame material.
Finally, the scans are done. They are presented at 72 dpi resolution and I'll remind everyone that all the images are copyright of Fantasy Flight Games. All rights reserved. You know, I never realized how many different endcaps there are.
Awesome! Thanks for all the work.
