The Grumbler (Brummbar walker)

By Lotus, in Dust Tactics

This one went through a couple transformations(and I still need to paint it past the gray coat)...at first I thought 2 siG33 guns would be boring, and then even Major Mishap prodded me to do 2 15cms rather than the twin 7.5s...and then me and a couple gaming buds tested the monster as it was and found...well "a player from the other side" said that both the 15cm and the 7.5cm were too much together...so now I'm back at making it a full Brummbar. The suggestion was made that I call it the siG-Fried...maybe the siGfried33 but for now I like The Grumbler. Probably already a Sigfried out there anyhow.

Looks good like the guns.

Great job, dude. Want to see ´em painted!

Thanks. Yep, I do need to paint the beast. Waiting for the right time. I build when I'm stressed out, and paint when I'm relaxed, LOL. Don't want to mess this one up. Probably do an Eastern front autumn camo scheme when the time comes.

So bringing your talents over hear now I see. Looking good as always.

Hey, Carrion!

Yeah, found my way into this game and the modelling was inevitable. Miss doing the ships...ran out of ones to do and then the real world surged in on my gaming. I pretty much model now when I should be sleeping, LOL.

Finally painted the beast...finished at last.

Now I need to make a card for it. As I stated earlier somewhere...it will have Bombardment / Blast as an SA and so there will be no cover. Boom.

Thought the other 3 pics came out too small on here so here's one pic...maybe it will post larger by itself.

Nice color scheme, very original! Though, you really should consider thinning your paints a bit, dude, as the paintjob looks kinda clumpy.

But hey, that is just one mans opinion,

I was hoping for the Ambush colour scheme but this version is nice as well. It looks like the men painted it themselves with paints they had in the field happy.gif

I like the rough hand painted style of finish,it makes for a more realistic model, seen a lot of field repairs..Nice job.

Thanks for the comments, Everybody.

On the paint thickness, some of (maybe all) of the clumpiness might be either superglue sloppiness underneath or bolts swamped in paint. I did put some of it on pretty thick though, and I don't own an airbrush. Eh...it is what it is. I started out with a sort of North Africa (I think) scheme and then it sort of took on a Euro color tone...had two schemes in my head and couldn't quite decide on a single one. Even had a little bit of the "Mickey Mouse" camo scheme in there (albeit the German variant)...Good thing this is sci-fi, heheh.

It will still be scary on the map. ;)

Nice job! The time it must of took to paint it would have my head spinning. I like the tape and spray paint style of camo, LOL.

Thanks! It did take a quite a few hours.

Just a thought...well...nix the antiair.

I like it. Instead of giving it Health 5 I think you should give it self repair. If you keep Health 5, you might want to add armor panels to the front, similar to the Jagdluther models.

Just out of curiosity, how did you build the guns? I would like to build one myself.

5 health reflects the fact that the entire walker is slightly larger than the stock one, the front angled armor is a bit thicker, and it's based on the Brummbar which had very thick frontal armor. I did it that way rather than make it armor 5...seemed like a good compromise.

On the guns themselves, I just used polystyrene for most of the parts but also used buttons for pivot plates (important for strength and stability--see 2nd photo), and a small ladder (forgot what scale) for the venting at the top (see 2nd photo). Buttons were good for ammo drum end caps too. You can drill through them easily which makes them quite versatile. Unfortunately this first photo is the only WIP shot I have of the gun.
