New player, several general rules questions. Can you help?

By BenStark, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Greetings, folks.

Like the title says, I'm new and I have a few rules questions.

1.) Is the dead pile separate from the discard pile? If so, how do they function differently from each other?

2.) Can attachments be transferred?

Thanks in advance!

1. Yes. They are essentially both out of play, but different effects may target specifically the dead or discard pile. For example, Forever Burning targets itself when it is in the dead pile, and Pentoshi Guildmaster targets itself while in the discard pile.

2. Currently, only Compelled by the Rock and, to a lesser extent, Ser Davos Seaworth can move attachments.

1. Theres also the rule that you cannot play unique things which are in your dead pile. whereas you can play them freely if they are only in your discard pile. The general rule is, unless otherwise stated, only characters that are killed in play go to the dead pile.

2. You forget Kraznyz, The Crown of Mereen and the Dothraki army which works with reinforcements whatever it is...

1. Whenever a character is killed, it goes to the dead pile. When a character or any other type of card is discarded, they go to the discard pile. Have a look at the section on unique characters in the rule book for an example on how it affects the game. Aside from that, there's a number of card effects that refer to either the dead pile or the discard pile.

2. Yes, but you need a card effect that specifically tells you to do so. Usually, once an attachment is played, it stays on whatever card it's attached to until the card or the attachment itself are removed from play.

I apologize for my nube questions. Thanks for all the help.

I have one more, if anyone would care to field it. According to Shaggydogs text, he gets +3 STR when a Stark Lord is in play. Does a character with the Lady keyword count towards that? I would assume not, but I want to make sure.

You are correct. Shaggy only looks for Lords.

I also have a question about the card "Flame-Kissed". It says "House Targaryen only." Does that mean that I can only play it on a House Targaryen character or can only House Targaryen players play that card? I would assume it's the latter.

(I'm avoiding saying "only a House Targaryen players play that card" because the card will work for a player of a different House if they take control of it from a House Targaryen opponent.)
