Few questions - Shadow Arya Stark - A Lannister Pays His Debts

By eprieur, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Hi, a few questions that arise in your last few games.

1) Just to make sure I understand this correctly, Arya Stark Shadow Version: You can put her out in shadow for 2 gold as a player action during the marshalling phase then at the start of the any phase like challenges a player can bring a card out of shadow for X (is this a player action or framework? I think framework). There is only 1 marshalling/challenge phase or do each player cound their own phase as separate?

2) If Arya dies and goes back to shadow, I assume she stay kneeled if she was kneeled during a challenge? When you get her back again out of shadow she keep the same card position?

3) A Lannister Pays His Debts: Can I kneel a character chosen to die for the claim value to pay this card? I just read the timing rule in the fact and I think yes because that character is still in play and in moribond state until the end of the framework action and because the card is a response to losing the challenge but I want to be certain.

Thanks

1. I dont know what you are asking

2. No, once a card leaves play (ie to go into shadows) anything regarding it is reset. When it comes back into play, it is treated as a new card.

3. I believe you would be able to trigger ALPiD (in stage 5) before stage 6 of the framework when moribund cards leave play.

When exactly do you get to bring a card out of Shadows in the Marshalling phase?

1) Before anyone counts Gold (so can only bring out s0 cards)

2) After first player counts Gold

3) Each player has an opportunity after they count Gold

I'm assuming 1 but have had people argue 2 and 3 with me...

You might want to split this into a separate question next time. Each round, there is only one of each phase, no one players get his/her own personal phase.

I'm not sure how other people are arguing that 2 or 3 happen before something that is supposed to happen "at the beginning of the phase."

If they still argue, just show them Shadow rules (available to download at support page):

"This happens before any other “beginning of the phase” effects occur."

Also, you really should look at phase flowcharts in FAQ.

Take a look at the FAQ. This is the exact case covered on pages 16 and 17.
