Astral Claws Black Shield

By UlricKessler, in Deathwatch

I've recently begun work on an Astral Claws Black Shield. For those of you not familiar with the fluff to well, the Astral Claws are a chapter that turned renegade and changed their name to the Red Corsairs and are probably one of the most notorious and surprisingly successful Chaos renegade chapters. If anyone is running a DW game online, I'd love to join in and give this character a go.

Also was curious if anyone else has or is playing a Black Shield who comes from a Chapter that turned Renegade? I'd love to hear it.

I like the idea, but isn't Deathwatch set prior to the Badab War (903-914M.41)? Otherwise, sounds great.

Though, as a parting thought, a Tiger Claws black shield should work just fine. I am assuming that you have the Badab War books, if you don't a can provide more information.

Some how I doubt that super fluff accuraccy wil change anything but good pointer...

Yep, the Badab War hasn't happened yet in the game setting.

Even still, I'd be quite interested in a pre-Badab War Astral Claw.

Seconded. Pre-Badab Astral Claws would rock. :)

Hmm, interesting. Yet...you could have the setting after the Badab campaign, riiiiiight? cool.gif

Although, as I stated earlier, I really am looking to get this character into a game. Please contact me if anyone is holding online sessions! ^^

I was talking with a friend about making a Thousand Sons Marine who becomes a Black Shield.

"Why doesn't the new Brother ever take his armor off?" gui%C3%B1o.gif

**Squad Apothecary remote links with his armor's life support.** "WTF you have no heart beat... or blood preasure... or body temperature!?!?!"

I have set my campaign over a hundred years later than the original setting in order to jive with my RT and DH/Asc campaigns. The old PCs from those campaigns are npcs in my DW campaign, so it made sense to do so.

I did something similar, for similar reasons, setting the DW campaign in the first few years of M42.

The kill team's first mission was to infiltrate the Rogue Trader's ship from our RT campaign. I actually only realised later that this meant our DW campaign is set later than the official one. Not exactly a loss, IMO.

Really not. This will let me use the necron stats from BC freely if I so desire, allowing a much less disjunctive retelling of A Stony Sleep. It has also been fun for the players, who really enjoyed playing throne agents in the Calixis Sector and bumping into their RT characters all the time while they did so. There is nothing like a bunch of manipulative and munchkinned former player characters to make powerful npcs and adversaries for another campaign. For those of my players familiar with the timeline for Tyranid invasions this works better as well, since they feel that Dagon is the latest harbinger of things to come, and not a footnote to other, later invasions.
