Minute Map Board Grievance

By player674990, in Tide of Iron

Just a small, slight, rare grievance on the map boards that I've experienced since DotF:

why does it seem that some of the Normandy map boards just don't match up well--I'm unable to quote exact map boards at this time, but most of the city boards' (which double as beach boards and this just makes city beach assaults near-impossible without sacking some of the key city map boards...) road & river hexes just don't sync up well.

Wouldn't it have been better to double up some beach boards with bocage boards so we can have variety here in assembling maps? Finally: why do I need double sided mountains and road overlays? Doesn't this defeat the purpose of having double-sided overlays? Perhaps a little more discretion on what is printed back-to-back next time, FFG?

This is why (& you win here FFG) I feel like having doubles of each Expansion & the Base Game... Nothing like wanting to set up the perfect map consisting of 29a next to 29b...

Though I dislike being critical of a game I like so much, I must admit I too was frustrated by some of the boards not matching up. Functionally, it makes no difference, of course. But aesthetically, it's just flat-out distracting as the eye passes over the board. Perhaps future expansions will include a terrain expansion of some sort with extra mapboards to allow greater scenario-creation (though I don't know if an expansion could undo the current flaws).
