descendant of eibon

By kamacausey, in Call of Cthulhu Deck Construction

someone explain to me why he is so good. i get it that you can keep getting him back by removing success tokens from stories but is it really worth losing success tokens just to get him back?

Combat, Combat, Arcane, Investigation. Fast (so like 2.5 Combat, 1.5 Arcane, 1.5 Investigation)

3 skill (well, since fast, like 3.5 skill)

Willpower

All for cost 3. Even without the cool ability to sneak him out at the expense of two success tokens, this is an excellent card for cost 3.

fair enough. is his ability used that often in your games?

I think i probably pay his 3 cost more often than the remove success tokens. But I do use that ability as well. I will do it if I think he will win Investigation, and possibly skill so often 1 of the 2 tokens come back and I thwarted my opponent. Seems like a good trade.

Don't forget, Professor, that the descendant can also be used as a transient resource. Perfect for getting bigger creatures out faster. :)

I prefer to use him defensively before I bust out the offense. Run to stories and bluff my exposure to a counter attack. Of course... people figured that one out after '09 but for 3 resources theres no better combatant than the Descendant of Eibon. There are a few that are close, but even some of those are also restricted *cough*guardianpiller*cough*

Hes just a good card.
