I read somewhere there are several new weapon upgrades in the book, one particularly sprang my interest, Belt Feed.
Now since it will be an eternity before BC will hit the Netherlands can anybody tell me what it exactly does?
Also heard they finally included powersettings for the lasgun, how does this work?
Weapon Upgrades
You should check out the Tyrant's Due podcast review of the rulebook. They talk quite a bit about the different upgrades although they do not go into great detail.
I have a question about the silencer according to DH and BC it only works on basic and primative weapons.
Read a novel the other day that had a Space Marine using a Bolter with a silencer attachment on it.
Night Lords would benefit greatly by this.
Any thoughts

A Bolter is a Basic weapon as I recall...Basic Bolt
Silencers only work with some SP weapons.
At least that's RAW in all the other 40k RPGs. I still don't have BC.
But there is a special, silenced Bolter in DW, so perhaps that's what was refered to in that book.
In addition a silencer looses a lot whan used with somthing like a mini rocketlauncher. And as it fires mini rockets a bolter is just that.
If I recall correctly, in DW there is actually silenced Bolts, callad Stalker Bolts. When used, they limit the sound, and also decrease the damage. Unless, they are used with the Stalker Pattern Boltgun. In that case, they are more or less completely silent, and does not have a damage decrease.
On the subject of silencers, however, I have read in some novells about silenced lasguns, and also seen NPC's in DH that use silenced lasguns. The uppgrade itself, however, states that only SP weapons (actually, I think it is specific SP weapons) can be silenced. Wich is what I do when I see something like that, I remove the silencer. I want my lasguns to *CRACK*
Some of the BC weapon upgrades are not the most tighly written rules unfortunately.
Take belt-fed for example, it can be applied to any bolt or SP weapon. Sounds fine until you realise SP covers things like flintlock weapons, bows, crossbows and harpoon guns. A belt-fed bow is an intersting idea...

I fail to see the problem. While there's something to be said for balance and what not, to have a claus against every eventuality gets tiresome as well.
@Hygric
We're playing the disciples of Chaos here. "Because it's a horribly stupid, impractical and silly idea" has never been a reason to not do something.
As for silenced boltweaponry, there's a certain limit on how silent a rocket -propelled grenade can be. You could probably switch the ammunition to non-exploding ammunition without the rocket-engine, but at that point, why aren't you using a simple SP weapon?

Stalker pattern bolters with Stalker-silenced bolt rounds = silent. There's a slight expulsion of gas from the chamber as you fire, but there's almost no chance to be detected firing it. That's not to say the round itself is silent as it thuds into a target and explodes, just that the firer is silenced aiding stealthy combat operations.
That said as far as i know the Stalker bolter and bolt rounds are a more recent invention so unsure if chaos marines would be able to get hold of them easily if at all.

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of a champion of Slaanesh wielding a belt-fed harpoon gun... "COME HERE BOY!!!"

Bows and flintlocks aren't primitive weapons in Black Crusade?
They're not solid projectile weapons in Dark Heresy.
In regards to what can and cannot be silenced, you should keep in mind that in the grim darkness of the far future they have technology like sound dampening and other nifty work arounds for real world issues. So, just because the real world lacks a means to silence a bazooka, tank cannon, etc doesn't mean that there isn't a means to in the 41st millenia.
Of course the appearance of such a device would most likely be highly stylized, and might not even look like a conventional sound supressor. What's even better is that the majority of the denizens of the universe wouldn't even know how such a artifact works, and treat it much like a fantasy adventurer would treat a magic sword, or healing potion.

Primitive is now a weapon quality, not a weapon type. Interestingly enough, one of their weapon down-grades allows you to add primitive to any ranged weapon. Primitive las-cannon armed savages anyone?
