Don't worry, I already searched for this... Infamy, Renown, and Claiming Power

By Mathias Fricot, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

I've made a gimmick deck for my tournament tomorrow and I need to know this one thing...

Does infamy let me take power from say, Robert Baratheon (Core) when he 'claims' power for renown and put it on a character with infamy, like Beric with Devious Intentions?

Infamy Rules (Core Rulebook):

Infamy

When you claim power or move power to your

House, you may place it on any card with the

“Infamy” keyword instead of placing it on your

House. Power on a card with “Infamy” does

count towards your victory total, regardless of

the card’s type.

Renown Rules (Core Rulebook):

Renown

If you win a challenge (either as attacker or

defender), each of your participating characters

with the “Renown” keyword claims 1 power

after the challenge resolves.

I am already leaning towards "no," since Infamy looks at power I (the player) claims, whereas renown is power the character claims. The reason I am asking anyway is because the entire rulebook looks at power you claim for your house or power you move to your house, in contrast with power characters claim for renown. That is, everywhere except the infamy description where they bring in power you (i.e. the player) claim. I think they meant to add "for your house," but just trying to be thorough.

When the answer is "no" I will aware you to this gimmick multiplayer deck.

Okay, so I have come to the conclusion that it doesn't work. But...

The idea was that I would use a Stark/Winter/Shadows deck that would just stall the game out using things like Feast or Famine, Muster the Realm, Questioned Claim, etc. until I got the parts of the deck I needed (through stark searching with To Be A Stag, Rickon, card draw like Parting Blow/Weasel's Way). It would go with Tower of the Hand and Hidden Chambers, Queen of Thorns, Sister of Truth, and Daven Lannister to rack up power on Queen of Thorns, move it to Daven, use the gold from Tower of the Hand (which would equal the power on Daven) to double his power in dominance and win the game.

Edit: Feast or Famine should read Lineage and Legacy

The answer is "no, Infamy has no interaction with Renown."

Infamy lets you put the power on a character when you claim power or move power to your House (card). Renown claims the power for the character with Renown. Claiming power for the character is not claiming power for your House.

That was the same conclusion I came to... but imagine what it would be like if it did.
