Speculative Discussion about Restriction

By cuttingrage, in Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game

First I should mention that this is not a petition. This is simply a discussion where I would like to know the opinions of players with more experience than mine.

Please rationally argue of possible pros and cons of restricting Contested Village. Here are some questions I had:

Which type of decks do you think would be affected the most - Orc aggro, etc?

Which factions do you think would be affected significantly?

Do you think this will encourage the use of other neutral support cards or this will simply lead to a choice of either Warpstone excavation OR Contested Village?

How do you think the overall gameplay will be affected - slower and longer, etc?

Thank You.

I think, that rush-decks would like to see it restricted. The missing of Contested Village would disrupt every setup. And rush-decks are the one that most likely don´t need a setup. As far as i can see this theoretical restriction would lead to some other, then necessary restrictions. Rodriks Raiders (against the opponents setup) or Cannon Crew (for the own setup) could grow stronger, maybe too strong. Until now, you have the possibility to play some sort of cc2-support card (with one loyality) and the village, so that Rodriks can´t destroy your whole setup. Furthermore the village is the only card (beside Derricksburg Forge) that allows some kind of starts like the one dwarfs are able to (with the Cannon Crew).

The village is a very strong, but fair card as for my part.

I totally agree with Schmutzer. Having a 1 cost card with power on it is very important in a setup, because you can play a 2 cost card and a 1 cost card. If you restrict it, people would automaticly choose Warpstone Exca (unless they want to plya one of the other restricted cards) because it is cheaper. 1 cost cards with power are very scarce : no supports, few units (with "zone only" restriction), so if you don't have Warpstone exca in hand, you'll only play one card the first turn, and your opponent might play something to destroy that card (Rodrik, Demolition, Lobber Crew...), and play his cards the next turn. In this situation, the first player with 4 resources would have a serious opportunity to develop faster and to win. So I think it would considerably slow the first turns

Now there are many decks that play to strangle the growth of rival. If there are also problems with contested village, such decks will be even more powerful, finalizing games without the other player even had an option to play. Not be in favor of something
