New Arkham Horror player finder

By Tibs, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Hi all.

Many of you may have seen or participated in Redd Skull's player locator thread. Well, he's been offline for a long time—which I understand because he has a very demanding line of duty. But this means that his map couldn't be updated.

I copied over his map and added everyone who has not yet been added. But what's nice about this map is that anyone (with a Google Maps account) can edit it!

Note that only the first 200 or so pins display upon loading! You have to go to the bottom of the list and click "next" if you want to see more!

If you don't have an account and don't want to make one, I'll be happy to add or edit any submissions. But for simplicity's sake, I encourage you to get an account. You could move your marker to a more accurate position in your city, and you should add some kind of contact information to your tag. After all, what good is a player locator if nobody can contact anyone?

Also, your pin's color, and even shape, can be changed. I don't know if we should set up some kind of color-code, like a color for "contact info available" or "willing to travel" or "games at my place only" or something like that? Or you could set it to whatever you want? To pioneer this concept, I changed my pin to green with a dot.

nice work.

i added what expansions i have. also, i did not type a way to contact me, as contacting me through this forum should be enough. :)

I changed mine to a Yellow Sign. I think it might be a bit big. I guess I should shrink it down when I get a chance.

Ok, I would like to be added to the player finder. What do I need to do?

Nifty, but I can't figure out how to add myself in!

Above the list of names, click the Edit button. Then in the upper left of the map, click the pin icon to drag a pin to wherever you live then edit the info. When you're finished click done (where the Edit button was). I'm assuming you have to be signed into your account to do this.

You can either sign in to your Google Maps account and then you can edit the map. Or you can just tell me where to put you.

You have already been added, but you can edit your pin with your Google Maps account.

Thanks Kindly!

You put my pin about 3000 feet from my house. If it were any closer I'd swear you were tracking me... Which you aren't. Of course not. That's just silly.

I just searched for whatever city you submitted and plunked your pin where google took me.

On the other hand, I placed my marker on the exact spot where we would be playing Arkham.

my precise location has been added, but eldritch interference from all the curves in my apartment obscure the street view :) phew, its working!

what the..

ok. the hell are you doing to your house!?

Yeah dj—I have to know the story behind that. Is it a coincidence or is there something sensitive in the image?

So that's what a Gate looks like in Germany. gui%C3%B1o.gif

Either that or DJ's TARDIS is dematerializing. Vworp vworp vworp...

Germany's got some pretty serious privacy laws, and didn't take too kindly to Google's Street View . I assume it's related to that. They even declared Facebook's Like button illegal due to privacy violations.

Privacy in Germany is serious business.

Understandable, given 20th century history. Or is it for some other cultural reason that I'm completely oblivious of?

Oh, man. Street View I can understand, but Facebook's "Like"?

Unbelieveable.

Thx for updating the map, Chris. I'll create a google map account sooner or later, so I can enter a pony picture for my flag.

Don't know what all this pony silliness is about, but I look forward to it.

Welcome back from vacation!

Welcome back from vacation!

Silliness?! Now who's being silly. She's not quite back from vacation I think. Just two days internet access?

Yeah, I'm back from the vacation & I'm almost done with my moving. Pant. Still need to find a gazillion more bookshelves to store all the books :-//

I'll have some problems with internet at home in the coming days, so my presence on the forums will be occasional, I'm afraid, more or less until the end of September.

As for the ponies... it's Avi's fault! ::laughter::

my chameleon circuit is malfunctioning again so I had to tape some psychic paper over the camera lens. Germany does not mind :)

PS: I think I just found a new player! Hes a player of the LCG game and hes moving just down the street from my in October :) I am sure I will be able to draft him for Arkham! Yippee - a new investigator! Now we are occasionally 5, sometimes only 4. And this happened 'coincidentally' without him knowing about the finder - it must be Blessed!

I don't have a Google Maps account.

Ordered Arkham Horror and a some expansions a week ago.

My location is Ukraine, Kharkiv.
