a few days ago we played a game against Eihort, where he had 10 of his 12 doom tokens on the sheet. then, one of the investigators sealed a gate, meaning he now had two brood tokens and was forced to throw the die.. which (obviously, as we were close to winning) he rolled a 1 on. These two brood tokens were added to Eihorts sheet and he woke up.

question:

should the above investigator be changed for a new one?
he was devoured pre-final battle and he wasn't devoured because of a start of battle effect. we ruled it as "devoured pre-final battle" and allowed a draw of replacement investigator.

I think you'll see arguments either way. Personally, I feel that if a devouring triggers final combat, or that if someone goes insane or unconscious simultaneously with the AO awakening, then that investigator is devoured and out of the battle (no replacement is drawn).

So the same mechanic devoured the investiagor and filled the doom track? I'd say it was a timing issue, which is resolved at the players discretion (with first player having the final say).

So unless the first player hated your guts, you did it right.
